Synopsis
Creating a Garden wildlife Pond is a companion volume to the phenomenally successful The Garden Wildlife Survival Guide and The Garden Bird Survival Guide, both of which sold more than 15,000 copies within their first year of release. A pond is the hub of a wildlife garden, attracting a fascinating range of creatures, and this book will show you how to turn your garden into a refuge that will attract and sustain wild creatures all year round. Whether you have an existing pond that you want to make more wildlife-friendly, or if you intend to build a new pond from scratch, all the information you need is contained in this colourful, handy guide. Creating a Garden Wildlife Pond shows you, step by step, how to plan, build and maintain a successful garden pond. Author Dave Bevan, a well-known nature photographer and conservationist, explains what you need to know to attract and keep a wide variety of pond-loving wildlife, from dragonflies and toads, to birds and a host of wild plants and flowers.
From the Inside Flap
A pond is the hub of a wildlife garden. It attracts a fascinating range of creatures, which include beautiful dragonflies, croaking frogs, and the menacing stickleback, as well as supporting a host of wild plants and flowers. Creating A Garden Wildlife Pond shows you, step by step, how to plan, build and maintain a successful garden pond. Wildlife writer and photographer Dave Bevan describes the visitors you can attract to your pond, and provides tips on how to encourage them to stay.

A garden wildlife pond is home to many creatures that come to rely on it for a place to drink and bathe throughout the year. As spring approaches, it teems with activity, as many creatures (which can live happily on the land for most of the time) move in to breed.
The wildlife pond is the hub of the wildlife garden. A successful pond will go a long way towards ensuring that your wild flower meadow bristles with life, your nest boxes are occupied, and, most importantly, the rich diversity of life present in the garden ensures that your fruit, flowers and vegetables are not overrun with pests.
Apart from the benefit to wildlife and the garden as a whole, your wildlife pond will become a source of interest throughout the year as you watch nature in action.

Creating a Garden Wildlife Pond
A very basic book about creating a wildlife pond. Written with children in mind. A boy I know with learning problems has an intrest with wildlife and this book has brought him a great deal of enjoyment and he now wants to learn to read it for himself; what a bonus! I too enjoyed the book.
