Customer Reviews
The books title says it all - and it's amazing as well.
Charlie really is the master of his art, if you've seen his TV programmes then you don't need me to tell you how good he is, if you haven't then take it from me Charlie quickly and easily debunks the myth that watercolours are difficult and unforgiving, I was amazed at how easily a painting appears out of a blank piece of paper - Unless you are an amoeba you cannot fail to produce a painting which will stun you, when you step back from it and see the end result you will be amazed. It doesn't matter what medium Charlie is using (oil, watercolour or watercolour pencils) ALL of his books give clear, concise instruction, they are well edited and provide well thought out instructions because Charlie is writing these books and sharing his knowledge with you - the student so that you can learn that painting doesn't have to be uptight and difficult, here you will learn how easy it can be, the techniques are easy to follow and if you think you can't do it, don't criticise the instruction, don't be hard on yourself ... keep going ... better yet, try and get to a workshop (visit www.charlesevansart.com [diary page]) for venues local to where you are and if you can get to a workshop you can paint along with Charlie, this is invaluable tuition.
Back to the books - practise the excercises and then paint. Sounds simple? well, take it from me it is. Even if you're not happy with what you produce - what have you done? - wasted a piece of paper. So, simply turn it over and start again.
Charlie is so good at what he does, he is THE best painter of his generation, he is a friendly, outgoing, inspirational person ... his confidence in YOUR ability is stunning. As he so rightly points out art is subjective; ie: your painting will be different from mine yet we will have both followed the same instructions. You are not trying to paint an exact copy of the painting you are learning, it is YOUR interpretation and that's the key.
Ready to paint? buy the book and get going, you will be amazed at what you produce. Thank heavens for Charlie, THE most inspirational painter and instructor, I really wish he'd been my art teacher at school!!!
QUICK AND CLEVER
THIS BOOK ARRIVED IN GREAT CONDITION AND IN GOOD TIME. THE CONTENT WAS EXACTLY AS IT SAID IN THE TITLE, ALTHOUGH I WAS A LITTLE DISAPPOINTED IN THE LACK OF SCOPE COVERED IN THIS BOOK.I DIDNT THINK THAT I LEARNED AS MUCH AS I COULD HAVE REGARDING MY LIMITED RANGE OF LANDSCAPES. THE SELLER WAS VERY APPROACHABLE AND HELPFULL. I WOULD DEFINETLY BUY FROM THERE AGAIN.
