Ian works as a senior Web designer for Nationwide Building Society where he's largely responsible for promoting the Web accessibility ethic. Ian is also a member of the Web Standards project which aims to promote best-practices among Web Developers and software companies.

What an excellent introduction to xhtml and css
Well after reading the excellent reviews on here for this book and browsing through the sitepoint.com website itself with the huge forum. I finaly decided to order it from amazon.co.uk. I ordered it on Monday at 06.20am. It arrived the next morning. (Excellent service) It's only taken me until today (Friday) to complete the book and the website that you get guided through to completion on. What a great book. I feel as though i've learnt loads in just 4 days ! I've just this morning received my next book "CSS - The missing manual".

The only book to begin learning HTML and CSS
This book is great for somebody completely new to HTML and CSS. It will take you through building a site painlessly. I can tell you that what you'll be learning is fully W3C compliant coding (as it should be) so you don't have to worry about this book being out of date or simply wrong.

If there is one book I would recommend to anyone with an interest in creating a website then this would be it. The book is an excellent introduction to not only XHTML and CSS but also the main features that make up a website. In a light-hearted, easy-to-read way, it covers topics such as use of graphics, form creation, website hosting options and even blogging. And if that's not enough, it ends by giving you pointers on what you could go on to learn. Most importantly for a beginners guide to web design, it gives an excellent grounding in creating websites using web standards ... no table based design here ...
