Review
"This book provides a startling insight into the horror of the fighting, from the opening shots to the final Argentine surrender. Weaving in eyewitness accounts, its direct and punchy narrative recounts just what it was like to be caught up in one of Britain's most brutal modern wars." --The Good Book Guide
Synopsis
Adapted from MCL's partwork "The Falklands War" (1983), this book relives the dramatic events of 25 years ago, which began when the Argentine Junta, desperate to restore its popularity at home, took the extraordinary decision to invade the Falkland Islands. Throughout the Spring of 1982, the conflict in the Falklands dominated world headlines, as British forces conducted a bravely fought and skilfully directed military campaign to recapture the Islands. The book provides a chronological account of the campaign and the key factors that enabled British forces to succeed. 25 years later, the Falklands War remains fresh in many people's memories as one of the most gripping historical events in recent times.

"As a young, boisterous and over energetic 20 year old in 1982, my
thoughts as we prepared to ship off to the Falklands was not of fear and
dread, but more of excitement and uncertainty. We were all young supermen
with everything to live for and we had been training for this from the
first moment we joined up . . ."
"Of all the books and reports that I have read this book is by far the most
accurate record . . . I encourage you to read this book and relive with me
the personal experiences and public stories of the war 25 years on."

The Falklands War: 25th Anniversary
Having had little previous knowledge of the Falklands conflict I found this book an indispensible and easy to read guide, packed with information which was important in understanding why Britain and Argentina found themselves in this particular postition. Written powerfully, with a good degree of both skill and tension present, every action of the opposing sides is detailed, allowing the reader to follow closely one of the most interesting chapters in modern British history. An added bonus is the lack of historical bias, creating a clear and balanced account, distinct from many of the already published texts. A must-have for anyone interested in the Falklands War, with an excellent foreward by Simon Weston. Thoroughly enjoyable.
Very poor
If anyone remembers the 14 part Falklands War magazine this is basically the text word for word in book format....without the pictures.
I felt when originally reading the magazine in 1983 as an eleven year old, that the journalism was pretty poor, and my view on this has not changed, albeit now without any supporting articles (on for example equipment, or individual regiments) or the excellent photographs.
There are better books out there, so avoid at all costs.
