Amazon.co.uk Review
Son of the Mask is a frantic sequel tailor-made for short attention spans. For 86 manic minutes, this belated follow-up to 1994's Jim Carrey hit The Mask compensates for Carrey's absence by casting Jamie Kennedy as a cut-rate animator who becomes heavily animated himself (courtesy of non-stop computer-animated effects) when he dons the ancient mask that belongs to Loki (Alan Cumming, nicely cast), the Norse god of mischief. As in the Carrey film, the mask turns its wearers into cartoonish whirlwinds of confident bluster, and that includes a little dog named Otis, and especially Kennedy's mask-induced offspring, a frenetic shape-shifting baby that's more creepy than comedic, like Ally McBeal's dancing infant on steroids and speed. This woebegone sequel quickly vanished from theaters, but it's a harmless babysitter that kids will enjoy, from the director of the similarly effects-driven Cats & Dogs. --Jeff Shannon
Synopsis
Billed as the sequel to the hit 1994 film THE MASK--which featured an unforgettably cartoonish performance by Jim Carrey--Larry Guterman's SON OF THE MASK is another energetic movie that blends special effects, action, and comedy to create an admirable entry to the genre. This time around, the star of the film is Jamie Kennedy (MALIBU'S MOST WANTED), who plays Tim Avery, a young husband with a fear of fatherhood. Unfortunately, he is about to become just that, alongside his excited wife Tonya (Traylor Howard). What makes an already bad situation worse is Tim's eventual realization that his son was conceived under the powers of the eternal Mask of Loki, which has turned his son into an uncontrollable monster. Then there's the arrival of the actual Loki (Alan Cumming), an evil figure who has come to reclaim his mask and win the approval of his overly critical father, Odin (Bob Hoskins). As Tim battles against Loki and tries to return his son to normalcy, he learns what being a good father is all about. Featuring stellar special effects, standout performances (most notably by Kennedy and Cumming), and lewd gags, SON OF THE MASK is ultimately a celebration of fatherhood--albeit in a very supernatural way.

Classic!
I don't know why this had such bad reviews. Don't treat it as an adult film although I found it fantastic. Don't treat it as a follow up. My boys found it the funniest film and were laughing all the way thru. Buy it now as it is so cheap!
fantastic!!
this film is fantastic - in some ways better than the first film!! the kids totally love it - even as young as 2 years, but the older ones love it too!!
Easy to Impress Magazine
once i was walking and thinking about a gd idea for a film and i came up wit d idea, what if i directed a crappy sequel to jim carrey's the Mask. I decided y not, i have money and i dont want it. so i went and foned up jimmy carry, but he sed he was busy on a film called Troy and also anuder film called Sin City. So i decided to get this street rat named jerusepheth who plays the role of the daddy in the film. the script (lyrics) were ritten by me and i was inspired by my 5 year old penguin (dat is 120 in human years). at the premiere of the film, the cinema was full up but wen it was over it was empty. the reason: they were so impressed with my brilliance that it was too much for the human mind and spirit to cope with. That led to tears of joy in my eyes and hyperventilation. a short of summary of the film: a dog finds a mask and puts it om amd causes mishap wqherever that little sh** goes. the evil god loki wants it bk for the fancy dress ball and the story unfolds within every scene just like a stapled paper napkin. Just to let u all no: i love you america!
