good product but lottery for 'classic' compatability
Got my item today, and will first respond to the first two reviews

- item is not 'massive, bulky and heavy' it has an 8.5" screen and an ipod next to it. you can do the math and get the size before you buy. in terms of weight, it is similar to the portable DVD player I own.

- the stand does not lock - well it does on mine but you have to extend the feet down, which is not obvious at first, but the products stands up fine when locked

- it does come with AC adapter (with US, Euro and UK plugs) and car charger included.

- IPOD NANO - for new IPOD NANO you can buy an adaptor from the I-Luv website $20, but be aware of the lottery section below

onto my review!

in terms of controls these work well, and the unit plays DVDs very well. the speakers are a bit 'tinny' but given the lack of bass amp it was expected

In my case the unit will most likely only be used with headphones (there are two audio jacks) but for some reason known best to the designers they have hidden these behind a cover that hangs on elastic when removed. I can see the benefit in covering the video and s-video slots, but I would not see the point for at least one headphone jack

The LCD screen has lines visible every 4mm, but these are only visible at an angle when screen is pure black.

I have to admit that the overall feel of the picture quality with the rimless frame is fantastic.

The remote is 'OK' and well featured, but the unit would benefit from a storage slot for it, as such I doubt I would take it anywhere.

The unit would benefit from a bag - I-Luv do sell these, but for the price addition I think they should charge £2 more and include one!

The unit is only compatible with the IPOD classic/new nano if it was manufactured after October 2007, as apple introduced some new chip technology to prevent people from using video out with their own devices etc. I am really annoyed at apple, not I-Luv for this as it means retro fitting of devices is not possible and given the huge success of the Ipod is in no small part down to the availability of accessories, seems crazy and a little over 'Microsoft' of them ;-)

I have asked Amazon if they can provide me a newer one, and wait to see the answer but will probably just buy one direct from I-Luv and will update you....

I will give the item 4.49999* as there are a few niggles, but on the whole an excellent item .

Be warned - iPod video only
This seems only to work for the iPod Video, (despite what it says on their website).
There are few details on Amazon, but iLuv state it will work for a Nano. which is what I wanted it for.
I have e-mailed them for a solution, but at this rate, the iLuv i1155BLK - iPod Docking Station/DVD Player is going back to Amazon. Pity, because it's a rather neat looking unit.

good item, if not a little unneccessary
i bought this product as a bit of an impulse buy. i think it is fairly good, the only problem is the touch controls, which can be overly annoying to use. dvd picture is pretty good, as is the ipod picture. i kind of dont know weather it is neccessary because a laptop does the same thing, and is almost as portable. even so, i do think it is a good buy. it is a luxury really. i have only used it plugged in, so i dont know if the battery life is any good, but i heard about 2 and a half hours, so not bad to watch a whole film. included cigerette lighter is very useful. battery life will be the main issue on planes so u can only watch one film there. i would recommend it, but only if u have a £150 to spare and have movies on ur ipod.
