MediaPlayer XS - how your USB (hard) drive becomes a mediaplayer
External USB hard drives are a common PC accessory in every household. A lot of these drives are used to store (downloaded) movies and music on. Problem is....
Everytime you want to look at a movie from this hard drive you need to go behind your PC or notebook to watch it. Not the ideal screen to watch a movie on.... It would be so much better to be able to watch this movie sitting on your couch, looking at your TV screen in your livingroom.
Freecom makes it all possible, with the new MediaPlayer XS. Simply connect your USB hard drive (no matter which brand!) to the MediaPlayer XS, connect the MediaPlayer XS to your TV, and you're ready to watch movies directly from your hard drive, without the use of a PC, in the comfort of your own living room! The remote-controlled MediaPlayer XS supports all common AV file formats, is conveniently small and very cost effective !! The perfect upgrade for your USB hard drive. Of course the concept also works with other USB devices such as a USB stick.

Freecom 30034 MultiMedia Player
The produst does what it says on the tin. Lets you watch downloaded films from any hard drive. It is a very small unit ideal for using if your travelling with this and a portable hardrive. Simply plug into your TV from the A/V output with the supplied lead. The connections into your TV can either be composite (Yellow for Video, Red & White for Audio)or if you don't have these connections it comes with a Scart plug convertor so you can go straight into the back of your TV on using the scart socket.
Next plug in the remote control sensor which will let you point the supplied remote control at the unit to operate it.
Plug in the mains PSU to power the unit and your ready for plugging into the front USB socket any type of hard drive or pen drive that has your down loaded films onto it. With the remote control simply page down to the hard drive folder, open and select your film to watch.
The only poor thing i can find to say is the quality of the operation of the remote control. Some times it works fine then other times it seems to struggle to respond, but it does get there in the end.
For the money i think it's a great little device
overall happy with the product
just got mine yesterday, first thoughts nice and small, very light weight and well packaged. it connected easily and took less than 1 minute without reading the instructions. plays all types of files i have and works on all my HDS except my mp3 hd (Archos Gmini) but that is quite old now. easy to use you just flick down the list that comes up on the tv screen. the only thing i would say let it down is the fact the usb port is on the front and the other wires are from the back which means you have wires sticking out both sides and the remote signal isnt super strong so has to be pointed at the device head on, either way you sit the device it will have a wire poking out and if you dont place it right the wire can block the signal from the remote a bit. now i sorted out the positioning i am happy with the product and give it 4 stars - the one missing star for the inconvenience of not having all the wires tucked away at the back :)

works well but doesn't play all formats. Avi's and wmv's are ok but doesn't see .mkv files
