Customer Reviews
Bring an ordinance survey map!
Great ideas, good maps, bad directions. If you follow the directions you will get lost - better to follow the maps, use a compass and go that way. Frequently the directions got me lost, but it's still a great way to see Dartmoor. Also, some of the descriptions of the walks as 'suitable for children and inexperienced walkers...' are frankly laughable! One of so-described walks was 10 miles over hard, rugged country and open moor...even in summer was an effort for me and some pretty experienced walkers - pity any children that are dragged on that one!
Excellent guide for walking.
This book, like all pathfinder guides split the walks into length and ease. Because of this, you will always be able to find a walk that suits your circumstances. A brief description allows you to choose what type of walk you would like, i.e. forest, river or moor land, and it also gives hints of when is best to attempt the walk, i.e. Spring, dry weather etc. Most of the walks are well described, so they are easy to follow, but beware however, of the countryside changing. All in all a varied book, that allows you to explore the area. If you are holidaying in this area it would be a good accessory for the rucksack!
