'Seems the Brits know something that we Yanks don't!5
Alexander O'Neal, who scored big in the 80's and early 90's with several charttoppers in the US, has been living and performing all over Britain for some time now. So popular is he there that he made a successful live recording and sells out some of the top venues in the region.

He's back with a release of covers of familiar songs, many from the 80's, along with reworkings of a couple of his own hits.

Time may have passed since he was soaring on the US R & B charts, but this release, if discovered, should bring him a new throng of fans. He sounds just as good as he did when he recorded his classic duets with Cherelle, as well as his solo efforts that made him well-known throughout America.

"Alex Loves" features the singer's dynamic take on songs made famous by Toni Braxton ("Unbreak My Heart"), Boys II Men ("I'll Make Love to You"), Elton John ("My Song"), Barry White ("My First, My Last, My Everything"), and eight others. He really soars on the remake of Percy Sledge's "When a Man Loves a Woman," a song that really fits O'Neal's unique delivery.

His re-vamp of his own "Saturday Love," done somewhat slower and slightly "accoustical," is breathtaking. His duet partner provides a reasonable accompaniment, similar to his original pairing with Cherelle.

Hopefully, this "import" will find its way back into the collective minds and MP3 players of America, propelling the singer to the level that he deserves.

Poor1
For once with a cover album, good choice of songs but poor execution - very poor. Don't waste your money.
