Like most John Fogerty fans i started listening to Creedence almost 40 [bloody hell] years ago and this cd reminds you just how great it was and still is ....just wonderful

`07 hasn't been the greatest summer yet - although it is only the end of May I suppose - hot spring, rainy summer weird - however the sun was shining brightly when The Long Road Home popped through the letter-box. So I put the top down and shoved the cd in. There's a long sweep of B road coming off the downs between Newbury and Wantage, downhill, long curves, no traffic, green hills, not a cloud in the clear blue sky. I swear to god, it started to rain just as Fogerty started singing `have you ever seen the rain coming down on a sunny day?' Up around the bend coming out of Wantage was a sign for Clearwater Hampers. I wouldn't have been surprised if on the side of the road was a Cajun queen hitching to Baton Rouge. You'd be gutted if I said there was........

Is the cd any good - you probably want to know. First I should nail my colours to the mast. Fogerty is number one for me, always has been since the 60's. Now this is rare - for despite his commercial appeal John usually rates as everybody's second favourite rocker. So clearly this is the best single disc by the best artist in the world. I challenge anyone to find on a single cd so much good music. Who are you going to cite? The Stones, ZZ Top, The Beatles, Springsteen, Petty, Eagles, Seger, Mellancamp? Whoever this will beat them hands down. Could it be improved? Well, there is a live version of Fortunate Son at the end, the original is on it too, so if they had some space why not put another song instead, maybe Rock and Roll Girls or Southern Streamline.

Fogerty did a great set at Hammersmith last year so I won't be bothering with the Wembley aircraft hanger or Glastonbury this year. I'll be chooglin' around the B roads listening to this - hopefully in the sunshine. So why settle for second best when you can have this?

I must admit that I had never heard much Creedence stuff; of course Bad Moon Rising and Proud Mary(did not know the name before) but this album opened my eyes to the amazing talent of John Fogerty and Creedence; now a fan of this band I have to say for anyone who loves rock or wants to hear the real versoin of Rockin All Over The World better buy this, Born On The Bayou is by far the best song here but all in all an excellent album to listen to again and again
