"This is not the call of the wild..."4
RFTC have never, ever been fully recognised for their raw energy and pure blood & sweat genius. They've always had potential for become more than just a punk band. People tend to label them as ska due to the fact that two members of the outfit play saxophone and trumpet. How far from the truth this is...

This is fast, gusty punk with the darkest twist of soul. I like it. Infact, i love it... S.O.S. (a hearfelt ballad-ish number about misreading the signs that a person is about to committ suicide), White belt, Ghost Shark (Watch Ghost dog: the way of the samurai by jim jarmusch) and Venom, venom (See the front cover) are amoungst the stand out songs... This album helped me through a tough time of my life (especially S.O.S.) by simply allowing me to forget the here and now. Let your hair down, rock out and LISTEN.

A shot to the vein4
RFTC are a back to basics rock band that show the world how it's done - all they've ever produced is fuelled on massive amounts of adrenaline. The songs are perfectly short, busy, exciting and ideal for parties, which means they should be given the admiration they quite rightly deserve.

Bursting in with the excellent `Straight American Slave' and then followed with the furious `Carne Voodoo', the album rushes through with a gush of chunky guitars, solid drums, catchy chants, touches of brass backing and hardly gives in to take a breath. Indeed, the track record of the band's activities is impressive and non-stop, which raises questions as to whether they are permanently on speed.

The aforementioned first two tracks `Straight American Slave' and `Carne Voodoo' are great and are followed with the brilliant `White Belt'. `Venom Venom' - a slinky track that possesses a slightly evil air - is just as magnificent; `Savoir Faire' (which seems to have a balloon solo) and `This Bad Check Is Gonna Stick' are also tracks that make this an amazing piece of work.

There is only one weakness to `Group Sounds' - and that goes by the name of `Ghost Shark', which is quite frankly not a classic and could have been put nowhere else other than on the end of an otherwise magnificent release. It is extremely infectious - the album couldn't have had a better cover to let you know what you are in for.

The best RFTC album so far...Rock and F**ckin Roll!4
Damn, they've done it. A truly great album from Speedo and Co. Steeped in 50's rock'n'roll as usual - Link Ray with a hint of Ronettes type girl groups on crystal meth. This is far far better than Scream Dracula Scream. The production is a lot more raw, the brass perhaps too quiet but the unbridled passion in the delivery is awesome. I admit it took me two or three listens to realise how good the whole album was but the very second the first track "Straight American Slave" kicks in, you know you're in for something special! Hold on tight.
