Product Description

Against all the odds the death of original singer and soul of the band Bon Scott didn't signal the collapse of the bandhe co-founded. Instead the selection of Brian Johnson as Bon's replacement drove AC/DC on to greater heights. After themasterpiece that was 'Highway To Hell' they surpassed it with 'Back In Black'. Crammed with hard rock classics 'Hells Bells', 'You Shook Me All Night Long' and 'Rock 'n' Roll Ain't Noise Pollution', 'Back In Black' is a true rock classic and a fitting tribute to Bon Scott.

Editorial Reviews

Amazon.co.uk Review
The death of the lead singer would spell the end of most bands. But most bands aren't AC/DC. After Bon Scott's overindulgence in alcohol lead to his undignified end, lead guitarist Angus Young and Co. simply found a singer that sounded exactly the same and carried on. The result: Back In Black, the most successful album of their lengthy career. Like every other AC/DC album, it doesn't deviate from their trademark sounds: loud guitars, basic boogie and vocals that sound like they are being screamed out by a buzzsaw. But never before (or since) have they gotten the formula so consistently right: "You Shook Me All Night Long", "Rock 'N' Roll Ain't Noise Pollution", "Hell's Bells" and the title track are among the best hard rock songs ever. AC/DC never experiment and never innovate; they just rock. No other band even comes close. --Robert Burrow

Classic Rock5
When Bon Scott died,he left a hard job to fill his shoes. Brian Johnson was that man. Scott had admired Johnson from the band Geordie, and had told the band.
After Scott had died the Young brothers decided to carry on writing and playing music, and put together a masterpiece.
The cd is full of classics guitar licks, but the two outstanding tracks are the title track and Hells Bells. This cd is in my top five.
And good news a new cd is on its way and perhaps a world tour...

Back in Style...4
I found this CD in a small record shop in France for 5 euros (about £3), so I did what any sane person would do and bought it...and for the money I paid, it has to be one of the biggest bargains I've ever found! This CD includes some absolutely awesome songs and while it may not be to everyone's taste, it's still a really good CD

Johnson or Bon: Who is the best?2
AC/DC are on of the greatest Bands that have ever been. No Question. I consider two of their Albums as absolute classics but Black In Black is not one of them. This re-birth of AC/DC was not the same. The Genius of their music had died in the back seat of a car.

What is missing from Brian Johnson's song writing and vocal prowess is the intelligence, wit, insightfulness, humour and clarity that Bon Scott so effortlessly brought to his songs.

When Bon sang I could understand every word, every nuance and he had a story to tell. With Johnson on the other hand, I find that I can't understand a single word. All I hear is Honky Tonk this or Honky Tonk that.

That said Black In Black is the best of the Johnson Albums. It has two classic rock tracks; the title number and `You Shook Me...' yet still these pale in comparison to anything penned on `Highway...' or `Dirty Deeds...'

I have tried so hard to love AC/DC with Johnson at the microphone but as time has gone on, I always return to the original version of the band and their far superior recordings. When Bon sings I instantly understand why AC/DC rocks me so deeply and I still miss his musical Genius.
