Good noise3
Their first single, Hey Gravity, a one-off for the Radiate label, made it to number 6 in the 2002 Festive Fifty, and its follow up, Live A Little, reached 35 in the same chart of listener's votes the following year. Both songs from this useful twin-guitar indie five-piece from Camden Town occur on this debut album, although Hey Gravity does not benefit for having been re-recorded for their new label, Trma (and has a guitar segue from the previous track). Live A Little, formerly on both Mandita and Purr labels, seems to be the same version as here, as is their third single, Testify, which makes a powerful opening track. MASS seem to be an uncomplicated (in a good way) guitar band, led by their founder and singer Justine, and the album replicates their live sound with clarity and volume

M.A.S.S. IS FOR THE MASSES!4
FINALLY HERE IS A GROUP WITH THE MELODY AND FIRE OF EARLY PRETENDERS YET SOUNDS REFRESHING AND NEW. VOCALIST JUSTINE GIVES THE GRACE SLICK/ANNE WILSON/CHRISSIE HYNDE GROUP A RUN FOR THE MONEY IN ENERGY AND RANGE. SHE BELTS OUT SUPERBLY CRAFTED CRAFTED ROCK AND ROLL WITH THE ENERGY TO RUN THE WORLD FOR A YEAR. GREAT GUITAR WORK BY ANDY MILLER WHO HAS THE HOTTEST LICKS THIS SIDE OF KEITH RICHARDS. WANT TO KICK START A PARTY? PLAY THIS ALBUM!
A "MUST HAVE" ITEM FOR ANY FAN OF ROCK AND ROLL, THIS IS THE BEST DEBUT ALBUM I'VE HEARD IN YEARS.

you have got to give it to the girl.. she can rock4
If like me, you think that it's the boys in rock bands that get far too much of our time then just listen to this because Justine Berry the M.A.S.S. singer will send shivers down your spine and everything flying round the room, if you dance before going out like me. I first saw Mass or is it M.A.S.S. when they supported Peaches, on that night there was not one bad song and this album is the same. Each track rocks along with only 'Deaf To Your Answers" slowing the pace. But there are memorable songs on the CD like 'Testify', Give Me A Break', 'Get Ready' and 'Live A Little' there really isn't a weak moment and then, when you think it's all over, there is another song that isn't listed anywhere but is as good as the rest.
It's not too expensive and worth every penny and has the effect of making you want to go and see them live again, not the usual dissapointments when you go and see a band live and they don't live up to your expectations or vice versa. If there is any justice Mass should be enormous and Justine can take her rightful place as the queen of rock.. if I was a boy in a band I'd be making way for her now.
