Wind In The Wires - A Modern Masterpiece of Music5
I only discovered Patrick Wolf when his third album, The Magic Position was released. I instantly fell in love with his ability to mix amazing lyrics with beautiful and adventurous music. The Magic Position played constantly for a long time after that, and then i saw him live, again i fell in love all the more with the music.
It was only a few month ago that i realised he had more albums under his name, and so i ventured over to Amazon and bought pretty much his whole back catologue. Considering i survive on a student budget, it was rather an extravagant gesture, but i decided it would probably be worth it it the other music was anything near as great as the Magic Position. what i found was a whole lot more...
Although i really love The Magic Position, and although i am obsessed with Lycanthropy (the first album), Wind In The Wires is what i like to call a modern masterpiece of music, and i dont often describe anything like that.
So why this album? Well, the opening song, The Libertine is an amazing musical story that transports you into a new world both through the music and the storyteling lyrics. The majority of the rest of the songs are a little different though... amazingly atmospheric and multi-layed these songs are both beautiful and captivating. I have reserched into this album quite a lot, and it was written and recorded partly in a small cabin by the sea in Cornwall and partly in Patricks mothers attick, and t shines through. The whole album is organic sounding, and by this i mean it features instroments such as the ukelele, guitars, pianos and violins, as well as a whole lot more mixed in to make a breathtaking overall sound.
I apologise if i sound very exctied about this album, but i have to say it is amazing! If you've been seeking something a little different to the generic rubbish that fills the airwaves today, then all i can say is two words, Patrick Wolf. Buy the album, its fantastic... please!
Before purchasing Patrick Wolfs music, i was at a point where i had lost hope in modern music, and all it took was a 25 year old guy with a dress sense that would put David Bowie to shame and an imagination and talent thats out of this world to regain my faith in music.
An essential to anyones collection, Wind in the wires.
Love to you all, hope you enjoy it as much as i have and will for many a year to come...

Stunning, a masterpiece of raw music and real emotion 5
Patrick Who? - That's what I thought until about two months ago.

Not many albums really move you or raise the bar, back in 1972 Yes released 'Close To The Edge' thirty years later Patrick Wolf released his second album which takes a few listens to fully appreciate it.

'The Railway House', 'The Gypsy King' and 'This Weather' are my personal favourite tracks but the whole album needs to be listened to in its entirety to fully absorb the musical 'journey'. This is a very original sound, the combination of Patrick's voice and the diverse musical styles combine to produce a piece of work that will stand the test of time. I strongly recommend it to anyone like myself who is looking for something different, it has a melancholy but at the same time uplifting feel to it. I suspect no future Patrick Wolf albums will be quite like it.

I've heard Patrick's first album 'Lycanthropy' and previews of his third album 'The Magic Position' (to be released Feb 2007) - both are ground breaking and set new standards.

Patrick Wolf is a very talented and innovative musician, who knows what the future will bring from this unpredictable but gifted artist.

Superior To Anything Recently Released5
Patrick, well you've done it again. Every chorus, every verse is sublime. From the intriging mix on ''Jacob's Ladder'' to the beautifully mastered ''Wind In The Wires'', i just can't get enough of this album.

Well Done Patrick Wolf, Keep Them Coming... Please.
