Product Description

Boasting the fermented wit of producer/multi-instrumentalist/vocalist Jason Hill and the sneering vocals of Brian Karscig, this California outfit excels at dirty, punky glam, served with no chaser. "Louis XIV" and "Finding Out True Love IsBlind" pay homage to everyone that ever sweated until theirmakeup ran down their face, then fell off the stage in 12-inch platform boots (Marc Bolan & T. Rex, David Bowie, Mott the Hoople, et al). Most of Louis XIV's saucy debut EP, ILLEGAL TENDER, gets sewn into this long-player's silver-lame-stretched girth, as do some low-key numbers like "Ball of Twine" and "All the Little Pieces". Without a doubt, this is unfettered rock & roll perversion at its most entertaining--profane, energetic, and self-aware. THE BEST LITTLE SECRETS ARE KEPT would have been the best party record of the mid-'70s, but it showed up up three decades late, dressed to the nines, with an album cover so blatantly sexually that it's almostquaint.

Editorial Reviews

Album Description
The San Diego-based combo's eagerly anticipated new album The Best Little Secrets Are Kept is a uniquely magnificent collection that's truly fit for a king. The brainchild of musician/producer Jason Hill along with Brian Karscig, Mark Maigaard, & Jimmy Armbrust, Louis XIV have already drawn acclaim on both sides of the Atlantic with their inventive melange of royally raucous riffs and big bawdy beats.

Customer Reviews

stunning.5
Stunning & audacious without ever sounding over-stretched. Reminds me of Iggy Pop at his driven best. Comparisons to T. Rex et al are right on the money too. Very impressed after just one listen. Is this the sound Prince was striving for but never quite found in the early eighties?

Actually, comparing them to these other artists isn't going to do Louis' justice. They are amply good enough to stand on their own without their needing to kow-tow or be pigeon holed by wannabe journo's (guilty!) on Amazon.

Hugely musical, hugely entertaining and with the depth and assuredness of really good musicians playing really good music!
I recommend you buy it for home, car, ipod or what ever.

too damn good!!5
please do your ears a favour and just buy this and listen too a sexy, leather trouser wearin` good album

A toe-tapping smilefest!5
I never bother to write reviews, but felt I had to on this occasion, as this album is just so good and deserves far more sales that it has achieved.

In a world where every other rock/indie band sounds the same, Louis XIV are a breath of fresh air.

If you think that tapping of toes, nodding of head, and smile on face, are signs of an excellent album, then for your own sake, buy this.
