Product Description

Utah post-hardcore quartet follow up recent live offering 'Berth' with this, their third studio album. Stepping back from the punk 'n' roll influences they embraced on 2004's 'In Love And Death', they have managed to combine the urgency and aggression of the "screamo" style they helped to pioneer on their self-titled debut with a newfound sense of melody, creating catchy, singalong anthems that still shudder with brute power. Produced once again by John Feldmann (Good Charlotte), it includes the single 'The Bird And The Worm'.

Pretty Damn Good, but not their best for me...4
As a hugely massive Used fan, ever since their self titled record, this record is not as good as their previous two studio releases.

I bought this record last year before going to see the Used on their UK Taste of Chaos dates, but downloaded it previously to check it out. The main reason I bought it on cd was to add to my collection as I have every release they've ever done and so I could get them to sign it for me, which actually happened. [Random piece of useless information]

It's evident that they've tried to move away from their emo tag, which will always linger with them. However, that doesn't mean I didn't think the album was good.

Their style seemed to change when Brandon left, needless to say Dan is a great replacement.

There are some genuinely great tracks on the album which for me would be I think that these tracks are definitely the highlights of the album; Hospital, Pretty Handsome Awkward, Wake the Dead, The Ripper and Bird and the Worm.

However, some of the lyrics on other tracks like Earthquake and Liar Liar [Burn in Hell] are a bit erm, wishy washy.

A must for every used fan though.

WOW5
well i was bored and lookingonthe reviews for this album wondering what people thought of it....so i thought id write one...
first off i have been a fan of the used since theyre debut which i think is amazing--then came in love and death which at first i thought was a lil rubbish but then after a few listens found it just as good as number 1 (sound effects and overdramatics) wow --maybe not as screamy as choke me but still wow
then i come to lies for the liers
the ripper-10/10- i think a really good track, nice lyrics and good guitar tune--could of had a lil more screaming but a great song..realli addictive.

pretty handsome awkward-13/10- simply amazing wiv a great stomping guitarline and incredible vocals, altho its not screamy in that effect it has a constant screamy edge to his vocals the whole way through which he sometimes breaks into--extremely insperational.

the bird and the worm-13/10- first song i heard off the album and i was completely addicted amazing chorus but again could have had a lil more screaming tho the screaming it does hav is very good.

earthquake-9/10- i find it very good and it is quite a departure from the normal used but in a different way it is exactly used --not one of the popular songs probably due to complete lack of screaming--i think personally tho it is very good.

hospital-12/10- i loved this song the moment i heard it altho it not that heavy it is quite stompyish and has a great chorus..superaddictive

paralyzed-12/10- amazing intro and bridge and the chorus is realli jks -- the guitaring is greeeaaat!

with me tonight-9/10- kinda like earthquake but a lil more bouncy kinda like lunacy fringe off love and death--good song

wake the dead-99/10- WOW that is the real description of wake the dead--from intro riff to the outro it is sooo sooo soooo sooooo awesome!!! the bit in the middle where it has pink floyd esque singing into the super heavy screaming bit is soo amazing featuring inmy opinion some of the used best vocal delivery.

find a way-7/10- altho i appreciate ballady songs this does get a lil boring --still a good song wiv great vocals but nothing compared to say greener with the sceener and blue and yellow (great songs--see 'the used')

liar liar (burn in hell)- 11/10- quite a good song andi thought because of the title it would be a 'sound effects' for lies for the liers --in the end no =[ still an amazing song and still heavy--features some great screaming!

smother me-6/10- could of been an okaaay song but its too sweet and repetitive and also the real letdown is some queer robotic voice 2mins after the song which means i cnt put the whole album on repeat! GRRR

allin all an amazing album --with the used you should look at an album as tho a different band did it--not the point of view of their last album which is one of the reasons we love them XXX

A brilliant Album!4
At first, i was a little unsure about the album, i had heard 'Bird and the Worm' on the television and i was hooked, but my previous experiences with their older songs was a little iffy. So when i decided to buy the album and listen to it, my first impressions were not that great. But after listening to it for a month, i have to say the songs have really grown on me. My personal Favourites have to be 'Pretty Handsome Awkward', 'Bird and the Worm', 'Hosiptal', 'Paralyzed', 'Wake the Dead' and 'Liar Liar'. The album itself is fantastic and i will listen to it over and over again, often i will find myself automatically playing it as soon as i put my headphones on. The songs are catchy and different from their older albums and i like this album alot. The lyrics are superb. If anyone asked me about this album i would definatly recommend it.
