Editorial Reviews

Gigwise.com
'Good Arrows' shoulders an acoustic leftfield-pop exoticism that
leapfrogs their previous releases for inventiveness and charm...

The Observer Music Monthly
...these songs never sound too far away from something timeless,
grounded and faintly murderous.

What is it about Tunng? Why are they soooo good? They have the
magic that's why.

Spellbinding !4
After 'Comments of the inner Chorus' London Nu-Folk ensemble Tunng provide another slice of new age mellowness and bliss which lifts the spirits and drives away the demons.
Some critics have argued that Tunng's use of electronic wizardry and the production vales are over-cooked. I'm not sure where these mood hoovers are coming from ? We are not talking The Wurzels 1978. This is a 21st century new age folk band who are constantly pushing the boundaries of what is normally considered folk music.
I'm not sure Good Arrows quite matches 'Comments' but it's certainly runs it close.

Clever stuff3
There are,on the other reviews here,a collection of superlatives, which clearly indicate a degree of enthusiasm for this album, and to a certain extent rightly so.But this is nowhere near contender for album of the year, and lets get real, Tunng will never be a household name, they are too leftfield for most folks tastes,so unless they compromise, sell out and start churning out crud, forget it.
However, this is a very intriguing, quirky and essentially folky album.Shades of Beta Band with even more surreal and dark lyrics. But it's not all doom and gloom, the track soup is actually quite funny. They have extended their samples to include a crackling fire and church bells, how english do you want!?
A collection of rather gorgeous,at times wistful, songs, that can lull you into a false sense of security,it ain't pretty-listen to those lyrics.clever stuff.

"Good Arrows"? More Like "Great Arrows"!5
GOOD ARROWS is a formidable collection of songs, and could well be a contender for the finest LP of 2007 thus far!

All of Tunng's vital ingredients are here - menacing vocal harmonies, rustic guitar picking, crackly samples and glitchy beats. This LP, like their previous two, is permeated with a decidedly dark and sinister edge (just check out the lyrics to "Hands" - the words will haunt you in the most delicious manner!) However, to counteract this darkness the music is buffed up and shiny and wonderfully melodic. Tunng's poppiest album to date? OH YES!

"Good Arrows" will compel you to finger pop and hum along to its endlessly catchy numbers. It is frighteningly consistent and also very, very unique. "Folktronica"? Hardly. This is timeless folk-pop.

Just listen to the awesome piano-fuelled "Bullets" (my current favourite). In an ideal world, this tune would be number 1 in the hit parade! It really is a remarkable pop tune and indicative of the fact that this band deserves more recognition.

If you are unfamiliar with the mighty Tunng, I strongly urge you to purchase this LP (and indeed their previous 2 albums - both highly palatable). Believe me, after a few listens your "tunng" will be hanging out and you'll be desperate for more!
