It is impossible to sum up the life of a band like Massive Attack on one CD, but 'Collected' is a good effort. Nevertheless, if you have the money, buy all the studio albums instead!

I won't lie, this is basically easy-listening. Gemma Hayes will never be a brilliant singer-songwriter but she does craft pleasent albums and has a beautiful, unique voice.

Yep, even the emo kids bought this for 'Heartbeats'. It's a nice enough album but I'm just including it to make a point - there are many superior acoustic albums to this! Look at the rest of this list

Obviously nothing compared to 'Brothers In Arms', etc., but any Knopfler's better than no Knopfler!

One of the best mainstream new rock bands to emerge for a long time. The Arctics are absolutely brilliant lyricists - the first band to truly capture the spirit of the noughties on record.

The pretentious classical lot don't like this. They say it's 'simplistic' and 'minimalist'...But sod 'em. It's beautiful, that's all you need to know. Worth the price for the title track alone.

Legendary band. And very consistent. Their newest album doesn't disappoint.

Impressive album. Possibly a bit too California-fied for an Essex girl but the fact that the album is so technologically complex is made even more impressive when you know that she alone produced it.

Another unfairly treated songwriter. This is a HUGE improvement on 'A New Day At Midnight'. Has some cracking tracks on.

Sooo much better than your standard 'Emo' band (God, I hate that word). This is real emotion and real talent.

Probably her worst album but still better than 90% of what's in the charts. Buy everything she has released!
