Synopsis
This text provides a single-volume illustrated work of reference on the subject of whisky. It gives information on what whiskies to drink country by country, covering the best products of the major distilleries and the exciting output of the independents. The appearance, aroma, taste and finish of hundreds of great whiskies is evaluated. Also included is a step-by-step breakdown of how whisky is produced, from malting and fermentation to distilling and maturation, and the key differences between the various styles of whisky - Scotch whisky (including malt whisky, grain whisky and blended whisky), Irish whiskey, Tennessee whisky, bourbon and Canadian whisky are explained.

SIMPLY THE BEST5
There is far more than just "this is great, not so keen on that." in Jim Murray's Complete Book of Whisky. Mr Murray is, first and foremost, a whisky fan. He writes with a boundless enthusiasm that bursts off every page and even if your favourite drop is one he dismisses, his explanations might open your eyes. Taste is a peculiar thing and Mr Murray realises this. All he asks is your time. After all, he is the one who has travelled around the world many times sampling the best and worst a distiller can do. His passion for the subject and his love for the people and places are easy to feel. This book is easy to like and hard to criticise, a bit like a top-quality 18-year-old single malt, only when you've finished the book, you can still enjoy it!
