Synopsis
Nicky Hobbs loves teaching at the local primary school. She's idolised by her class - in particular ten-year-old Oscar Samuels - but she's starting to find she'd quite like some adult adoration for a change. Mark Samuels is a frazzled single father working all the hours God gives to provide for his beloved son, Oscar. But he's unable to see that Oscar would prefer his presence to his presents once in a while. Ms. Hobbs knows Mr. Samuels is a heartless workaholic. Mr. Samuels is certain Ms. Hobbs is an interfering busybody. But, when they finally meet, they start to discover that first impressions can be deceptive. And perhaps they've both got a bit of learning to do...

predictable
very predictable in a pride and prejudice way. man and a woman meet and instantly dislike each other becuase they have decided how they feel before meeting each other. add in a school excursion to bournemouth and the intervention of 2 10 year olds they finally admit they fancy each other. the ending was a bit disappointing as we are just left hanging in the playground. the author died before this was published which is a shame. the nanny was much better
Utter drivel
Boring, predictable, and badly written. Gives chick lit a bad name.
Will not be reading any more books from this author - especially if this purports to be her 'best work'.
The Learning Curve
Just the kind of book I love; perhaps a bit predictable but I found that I really cared about Nicky. All the characters are so real - I'm sure that I've worked with some just like them.
I have also read The Nanny, which made me laugh out loud - and I got some funny looks on the bus for that, I can tell you!
The death of this author will all our bookshelves a little more empty - and possibly our hearts, too.
