Amazon.co.uk Review
Horrid Henry is probably your worst nightmare. He is messy, naughty, cheeky, always in some kind of trouble and usually manages to drag other children into his muddles. Kids love him, and in Horrid Henry Strikes it Rich by Francesca Simon, Henry manages to sabotage the school sports day, run away from home, wheedle his way into getting all the presents he wants for Christmas and then comes up with a cunning plan to get very, very rich.
Simon's devilish writing, accompanied by Tony Ross' wildly irreverent illustrations, captures the imagination and Henry's anarchic antics will raise giggles and gasps from everyone. Riveting stuff, ideal for newly confident readers who want to get to grips with a rip-roaring story, and good for reading aloud with a parent. (Ages 6-8) --Susan Harrison

About the Author
Francesca Simon spent her childhood on the beach in California, and then went to Yale and Oxford Universities to study medieval history and literature. She now lives in London with her English husband, Martin, and their son, Joshua. When she is not writing books she is doing theatre and restaurant reviews or chasing after her Tibetan Spaniel, Shanti. Tony Ross is one of the most popular and successful of all children's illustrators, with many picture books to his name as well as line drawings for many fiction titles.

A great book for a reluctant reader
I recommend these books for children aged 6-9. They are great at encouraging children to read. I initially bought the story tapes for my reluctant reader son. Both my children (boy 8, girl 7) loved the stories so much that soon they were both devouring the books. They are aimed at a younger audience than (beloved but less accessible) Just William. The typeface is large and easy to read, the stories short and fast paced, but most importantly, they are really funny and Horrid Henry appeals to the rebel in all of us.
Wow! certainly keeps my 6 year old amused
What can I say...laugh out loud reading for both adults and children alike. My 6 year old son has now read the whole series unaided, and is quite content to re-read the stories again and again. My 5 year old is dying to be able to read well enough so she can read them independently too! Wonderful for parent to child reading and a fairly simple, and repetitive text style means that younger children can have a go too, brilliant!
Simon is as good as Rowling!
This book is funny and excellent. I enjoyed it a lot.
