A must have for all developing skiers and instructors, this book is the most up to date insight to how we ski and how to include all areas of sports performance & strategy to help us and our students perform to their best.
We need to be able to adapt to the mountain and use our skills appropriately for the different terrain we wish to ski on. To name a few - bumps, ice, powder and not forgetting nice smooth pistes. This book will help you approach such terrain both technically and psychologically in the simplest language you will find anywhere.
Easy to read and understand, no need to have a dictionary beside you and lots of useful pictures to help you enjoy the read.

Editorial Reviews
From the Author
This book brings together the knowledge and expertise of some of the leading practitioners in the snowsports industry.
Apart from being the principle author my role has been to manage this project from start to finish and collate and edit the contributions from the other writers.
The contributing writers include, Robbie Fenlon UIAGM Guide and director of Wilderplaces, Professor David Murrie a specialist in biomechanics and coach education, Shona Tate former member of the Scottish Alpine Ski Team and
co-director of BASS Chamonix and Liam Williams, IASI Level 3 (ISIA) and 2 times Olympian from the sport of rowing.
From the Back Cover
Parallel Dreams Alpine Skiing is aimed at both recreational skiers and instructors. It will prove an invaluable resource for anyone wishing to develop their's or other's skiing performance. It helps make sense of complex concepts breaking them down into simple and understandable language backed up by a host of great photographs.
"Derek Tate is one of the most knowledgeable people I have come across on the subject of skiing. His approach is at once technically perfect but easily communicated - a rare combination of attributes, but one that is gracefully packaged in this volume. The holistic approach to the art of skiing that Derek brings together in this book will also greatly benefit your life off-piste and the contributions from experts such as Professor David Murrie, (basic principles of skiing); LiamWilliams (training) and Robbie Fenlon (off-piste) add a degree of authority rarely found in any one single opus. Derek's wife Shona Tate, herself a BASI instructor, brings an additional perspective to the
excellent instruction in this handbook that will serve from intermediate recreational standard to instructor level. A thoroughly well thought out work that will be referred to by many improving skiers for years to come."
