Customer Reviews

Silent and Tiny!5
I've tried a few NAS over the years and my main problem is that they're all too noisy for a living room, as this tiny NAS has laptop hard drives inside it really is silent, barely a click from it even when I was filling it the first time with about 200GB data from my PC.

The in-built DLNA server is really cool too, I can now stream movies to my PS3 without needing to leave a PC on.

RAID 1 is an added bonus too, something this small that can offer redundancy, fantastic!

Great for sharing all your MP3's5
I'm using this as the central store for my iTunes folder so I can access from desktop or laptop all around the house (and outside) via wi-fi. It's also set as the central backup for several laptops and desktops. As the other reviewer mentioned it can also act as a media server for a PS3 which is handy. I have struggled to get a Vista laptop to connect, but had no problems with XP, MacOS X and even windows 7 beta. It may be my lack of familiarity with Vista so I haven't deducted any stars for that.

It's really quiet in operation and the speed is useable even over a wi-fi link!

There's a USB socket in the back in order to back it up via a USB Hard Drive or DVD writer, so they really have thought of everything which is remarkable for what is such a 'relatively' low price.

A nice product which I have been using pretty much trouble free for three months now.

Buffalo LinkStation4
Added the storage device to my BTHomeHub and now use it as file storage for three home pcs and as a print server for my Canon MP610.

Installation was fairly straightforward although occasionally had to guess what to do as some instructions appeared in Japanese.

It's pretty reliable although can disappear from the network if the printer is turned off. Easily rectified by turning on the printer again.

The Canon MP610 is a multi-function device but only operates as a printer when connected through the LinkStation. Againeasy to rectify by switching the USB to the PC when and if you want to scan.

Auto power setting is not the most reliable and it did not always swith off\on when expected so just leave permanently on. It does not get overhot and runs very quietly.
