Customer Reviews

Handy and comprehensive reference to Brazilian food culture.5
Even if you don't plan to visit Brazil, this book is deliciously full of information to nibble your way through. Sections on cultural history, regional specalities, shopping in Brazil's markets, and recipes make up the first half. The rest of this handy-sized paperback is packed with "Helpful Phrases for use in Restaurants and Food Markets" (with pronunciations), an alphabetical "Menu Guide" with marginal notes indicating Spicy, National Favorite, or Regional Classic, and a detailed "Foods & Flavor Guide," with translations of everything you could think of to do with Brazilian food. Especially good describing local fruits and fishes. Maps, drawings, mouthwatering photos, and good Bibliography and Index too. A tasty addition to anyone's cookbook collection.
