Mediocre3
The Turok series has never had a truly great game. N64's Turok 2: Seeds of Evil was perhaps the closest effort. Sadly this new iteration better resembles Turok Evolution, the series lowest point by far.

One thing that always entertained about these games was the weapons, varied and incredibly destructive. Sadly this is where the latest version falls short. Granted, there are the obvious; shotguns, sniper rifle, assault rifles etc, but nothing as ludicrously OTT as the Cerebral Bore or Chronosceptor. There is also a Halo style weapon selection, meaning you can only carry 2 weapons at a time. Therefore, firepower is in much shorter supply. Turoks has a bow and a knife for side arms, neither of which are particularly useful. The bow can take up to 5 or 6 shots for an enemy to drop, particularly dinosaurs, and the knife triggers a cinematic after every kill. These are quite gory on the first viewing, but only irritate after watching them continuously.

In terms of plot, Turok is now a space marine and part of a squad (seemingly the norm in all mediocre shooters recently). Although you can't issue orders, they are fairly skilled with a Shotgun, but have the strange tendency to lie down and play dead in the middle of a gunfight. A glitch or deliberate design?
The graphics are truly shoddy in parts. The levels design is linear and repetitive, ranging from caves to jungles to caves to jungles. Check-points are idiotically spaced, creating more sticking points than necessary. Boss battles appear randomly part way through levels, which would be fine if the level ended with a shootout or set piece. Instead they can finish abruptly; when dropping to a lower ledge or entering a tunnel. It's strange as the plot is fairly engaging and this seems to ruin the pace. As do the sudden loading times and slowdown. Turok also moves very sluggishly, a sprint feature is much needed here.

Yet in spite of all this, Turok is an entertaining game. It's nowhere near the excellence of Call of Duty 4, but a solid, if mediocre shooter nonetheless.

Not what I was expecting but still fun.4
I have been waiting for this one with baited breath to hit the shelves even before the PS3 come out,& now I've played & completed it I think I can safely say that yes I did enjoy it & yes it was worth the wait.. But. It wasn't quite what I was expecting in terms of game play & graphics. In certain areas the graphics was similar to the graphics on a PS2 which isn't very good really considering people have waited a long time for this game to hit the stores, also I found the aiming very frustrating in parts of the game wear as you cannot get a nice steady aim when your trying to hit your target fast & no matter how steady you try to be with the controller it jolts far to furiously & you end up wasting all your ammo shooting hear there & everywhere. The weapons wear impressive although I found the "ESUS Blackfly sticky bomb gun" a little tricky & frustrating to use. But overall the game was still enjoyable to play, but think the developers could have payed a little more attention in certain areas.

I have played it, and its not as good as i hoped3
Well first thing i notice when i started playing the game was the graphics are not that good, they are a bit shabby and the grass on the game is 2D! but the second thing i noticed was a good thing as the controls are good and the way your character (Turok) moves feels different from other FPS. The dinosaurs are pretty easy to kill tho i imagine it will get much harder as the game goes on e.g T-rex

You have weapons such as a Crossbow, a knife and guns the knife an crossbow are probably the best to use especially on small dinosaurs as the knife can kill them in one with a special kill.

Now another bad thing is the sound on the game it sounds so cheap! it sounds nothing like what a game should and when your teammate talks to you it gets annoying because of how he sounds (basically it sounds like they used cheap equipment to record voices)

Another good thing is killing people also on the island as well as dinosaurs although dinosaurs are more fun and exciting to kill the people can be just as fun as well if you experiment with your weapons or even get dinosaurs to eat them for you. Also when fighting dinosaurs they knock you down quite alot which can get annoying but it is more realistic

Overall i like the game but its not one i see myself buying, as i think it could of done with more development to fix quite a few things which make the game annoying to play e.g Graphics,Sound and the gameplay as well to be truthful
