Sitting comfortably?4
I have to say this had been sitting on my shelf collecting dust for a while as I wasn't expecting it to be a masterpiece but I finally got around to watching it and although its no masterpiece I have to admit I really enjoyed it.

It's a strange low budget film about a girl that moves into a 'haunted' house and gets posessed by a spirit of some chap that used to torture kids in a chair he built in the house. The build up is quite slow but the ways its filmed with this single character in the house is unnerving and once fully possessed she builds her own torture chair and within time young Billy (or whatever his name was!) from next door is in the chair. Its up to her sister to save her and the kid.

The small cast of unknown actors do a fine job all the way to the downbeat ending which I could have done without as it is a little predictable. For horror fans there is not much death or gore as it is more a supernatural/poltergiest film.

Surprisingly good for an independent4
The opening sequence makes you realise that this is a low budget independent and instantly makes you hope you haven't made a bad choice.

But ..... with an interesting and original story line, some genuine eeriness from suspense with little guts and gore (which is often the biggest let down with independents) this film genuinely surprises in a good way.

The story line is a little predictable in some places but what horrors don't have this. The acting is overall very well, carried by the main characters with just one less than enjoyable performance which thankfully only happens at the end of the movie with the introduction of a strange gentleman who struggles to comes across as convincing in his character.

For a movie with little in the way of major reviews, a cheap price and little known actors this film pleasantly surprised me and was actually an enjoyable Sunday afternoon watch.

Creepy Low Budget Movie.3
The Chair is indeed a mystery, I found it at my local rental place taken in by the oddly werid front cover. I put it on last and didn't expect it to be any good to find it's better than some horror movies of late. The story is about a young woman named Danielle moving in a new house after supposely coming out of the mental hosptail only to discover that the house isn't all what she seems. Frightened by unnatural sights, she drags her sister Anna to stay with her during the night. But one day, Danielle finds a undiscovered room filled with unusual things. Wrong move, she gets possessed by a dead serial killer and builds a horrifying chair to torrture anyone around her like the killer did with children. Will Anna save her from her disturbing torrment? Yes, it's a low budget movie with no known stars and not really scary for you to jump out of your skin. But it is surely creepy, the way Danielle changes is unnerving and you root for her sister to save her. The only problem I didn't like was the constant jumping scene to scene, one minute light then dark. Got a little annoying but that's how it was shot and you just have to argee with it. The ending was sort of understandable, a good little twist and I wonder if it would lead on to a sequel? Recommened if you like creepy low budget thrills, better than some horror movies of late.
