great laptop
I bought this laptop for myself as a xmas gift and to be sincere its a collection of beauty and efficiency. The black finish makes it stands out and more attractive. Light weight and so portable.
It comes with 3gb ram, that is more than enough, even for gaming
It has acore 2 duo processor T5800 2.0GHz, 800mhz and 2mb L2 cache that is enough for any multitaxing you might think of.
HDD 160 thats large enough for me.
The graphics video card is that of Intel GM45 graphics card that came out 08/2008. For people intrested in gaming read more about the GM45.
The webcam is so unique and can function under low light with the use of the pre-installed webcam optimizer
Though it lacks bluetooth but this will only cost you £3.00 to buy here at amazon and install.
The wireless connection is the best have seen once installed, it has never, ever disconected even for once, compared to my Toshiba and my compaq hp.
Screen resolution is in HD and never freeze up no mater what u are doing
For this price, functions, beauty, efficiency(T5800 processor) and brand name, Its the best laptop to buy
The only fault i can see is the battery. It says 3hour but its not, though it shows 3hours, but runs down at 2hours if nothing is being processed and lesser if u are working on the system. But besides this, I can not fault the system
Excellent value
No Vista disk supplied. Have two blank DVDs ready when you boot up for the first time and take the opportunity to back up the operating system to factory settings when requested. When you have installed all your programs, Internet, music etc to your satisfaction take a second back up as this will ease the pain if you ever have recover your stuff.
The shiny black front of the casing does nothing for me, but once opened you have a very pleasing looking piece of kit. I was on the net with wireless within ten minutes using TalkTalk software. The webcam is good, the internal speakers a bit tinny. The keyboard has bigger keys than my desktop, great. It has three power settings, the lower two of these slow down the CPU to give longer battery life, so if you are using electric set it to the fastest speed.
It comes with about twenty annoying games preinstalled which you have to buy to get the full version. To me this is a form of advertising as with the two month trial offer of Microsoft Office. With patience I got rid of them.
I got this laptop while waiting for repairs to my desktop; otherwise suicide would have been an option! It is a magnificent bit of kit and a good buy at the price.
A fine machine
I decided on an Acer because they are one the world's largest computer and computer component manufacturers, and having owned an old one previously (which has been proved to be very rugged).
I decided that the '5735' spec was enough for me in reality - it is very hard to resist 'spec creep' ever upwards and ever more expensive.
I have not been dissappointed at all; it has been a really good buy and excellent value for the money.
The wide screen (16:9) is very useful as it enables you to have more usable, active open windows at the same time which I have found to be useful to my way of working. Also the wide screen means that the keyboard is pretty well full size and with a proper number pad to the RH side.
The built-in webcam performs well and in pretty dark conditions too, overseas friends on Skype have commented on the clarity of picture.
The WiFi has been proved to be good, I have never yet had a signal loss or drop out within our home!
I think that battery life is over optimistic, I am sure it would not last the stated time, but seems adaquate and much better than my old laptop.
I am not keen on the shiney plastic finish as this seems to attract/show any dust, but this seems to be a fashion with many others laptops too.
Processing, memory and drive performance all seem more than fine (I haven't got it to struggle at all yet) but I am not a games player so don't need high-end graphics.
Camera, MP3 player, card reader, and printer have all functioned perfectly on plug-in. Haven't tried a scanner yet.
Overall, a very satisfactory purchase.
