Customer Reviews

Awesome!5
The initial similarities between this add-on and the PSS version of the 757 made this a reluctant purchase at first. Captain Sim have brought to us a new level of realism and functionality to flight simulator 2004 and fsx, rivaling the quality dare I say that the likes of PMDG deliver... and at a much lower price.

As expected the JustFlight installation process was effortless and momentary. Loading up fsx I was eager to take a look at this plane, and what a ride I was in for! First impressions were brilliant; a splendid exterior with the possibility to undress the aircraft to its bare skin (by this I mean animated service doors, windows, engine cowling, APU intake etc.). Taking a look inside and it gets better. The flight deck is so detailed, beautifully detailed in fact. The panels look suitably used and abused and give you the impression that you're not stepping into a brand spanking new plane, but a plane that has been gracefully aged over its years of operation (the B757s have been around for quite a while and are no longer in production).

So much has been taken into account to make flying this plane a truly realistic experience. There's an abundance of micro detail including working stab trim cutout, evacuation horn, RAT, locking flight deck door (the list goes on). Then there are the more significant features such as a working weather radar, TCAS and fire protection (again the list goes on!).

Having lined-up with the runway centerline prior to takeoff I pressed the button on the side of the throttle only to hear a beeping sound telling me the auto throttle had disengaged. What I had not realised was that I had pressed the A/T disengage switch when the TO/GA switch is located separately in its correct position below the number 1 lever. It is attention to detail like this that makes 757 Captain a truly wonderful simulation. I also loved the dust marks around the numerical windows on the MCP and radio stack.

However there were a few problems regarding the autopilot: During automated flight the yokes turned hard left and the plane ceased to fly the planned route. Upon disconnecting the autopilot the plane rolled violently to one side, prompting emergency action. Another problem that I observed was the stab trim levers having a mind of their own whilst on the ground; during takeoff the trim went to the full down position making it practically impossible to raise the nose.

I'll stop talking now and let you buy it and I assure you that it will be one of your smartest flight sim purchases to date! Enjoy!

Good Simulation of the trusty workhorse5
Flight Dynamics are good with a huge range of liveries all very eye pleasing, although for the true simmer the only one that matters is the cockpit.
Cockpit works well and is well thought out by the tab on the left hand side giving access to overhead panel, EFIS controls and even HiLo loader controls for the freighter buffs out there.
VC cockpit is good with huge levels of detail and even opening windows, moving handles, however the seating position of the First Officer appears a little to the right compared to the real thing. Overall I would recommend this very good add-on to any budding 757 enthusiast.

Excellent FSX add -on4
The 757 Captain add-on is excellent, apart from the autopilot, more of which in a moment. Once you get to grips with programming the CDU (aircraft computer) the plane is a joy to fly, with superb sound and graphics. There is a good tutorial available for download on Justflight website and there is plenty of help on that site's forums. The autopilot, when engaged, causes the plane to do some really strange things, so it's better without it until a program fix comes out (due soon I believe). To get the best out of this add-on you need a computer with good gaming specs and a bit of patience while you learn how to program the CDU and set up the aircraft's systems on the overhead panel.
