Amazon.co.uk Review
DeVito and Schwarzenegger as fraternal twin brothers? Hey, why not? This delightful 1988 comedy by Ivan Reitman--about genetically designed twin siblings who discover each other at the age of 35--works out just fine, thanks largely to great chemistry between the two stars. Despite a certain amount of rough action and tension, Twins really gets a lift from the palpable innocence Reitman develops, and the female costars (Chloe Webb and Kelly Preston) bring some interesting texture of their own. This is a film that walked the tightrope of a high concept and completely succeeded. To see how easy it is to stumble in a similar situation, check out DeVito and Schwarzenegger in Reitman's Junior. --Tom Keogh

Synopsis
Twin brothers--hardly identical--are separated at birth. As the result of a genetic experiment gone awry, the brothers could not be more different, both physically and emotionally. Raised in a sheltered environment away on a desert island, giant Julius (Arnold Schwarzenegger) has developed into a meek, highly educated individual with a big heart. Pint-sized Vincent (Danny DeVito), left in New York to survive on his own, is a scheming, cynical hustler with an insatiable lust for women and money. When each discovers the other exists, the brothers reunite and set off an a comic adventure in search of their lost mother. But in their cross-country travels--with girlfriends in tow and a hitman hot on their trail--what they really find is a deep brotherly connection that exists despite their external differences.

Enjoyable Twin film4
The plot of this film speaks for itself. The idea is simply terrific and works extremely well. A smart handsome athletic man is the twin of a short dumb criminal, comedy conventions all over and will guarantee to leave you chuckle all the way through.

Schwarzenegger (Commando, Terminator) stars as Julius who leaves his home to go in search of his lazy criminal breaking brother Vincent, De Vito (Tears of endearment, Get Shorty)
The story is very simplistic and easy to understand. As well as being categorised in the comedy genre there are many emotional ideologies contained within the hit film. There are many family issues raised by the characters and love is a central theme in this relaxed plot.

The whole film is about the brothers and how they get along. De Vito plays the sluggish criminal Vincent who finds it difficult to accept his brother and Arnie plays the very enthusiastic brother Julius who is always willing to do everything he can.

Having two different types of characters allows the tension and excitement of the film to boil up and engages the audience into watching the humour but also the emotional ideas contained. It is very heart warming and will bring a smile to your face as some actions are completely ridiculous in a humorous sense but the ending is also very special for many people. There are many `brother' conventions. De Vito is willing to help his brother into the world and teach him the things he knows as is Arnie.

Through the use of this partnership the plot is very consistently funny with more speaking humour than physical but some dancing scenes involving the pair towards the end are very humorously memorable.

The idea of juxtaposing two completely figures in Schwarzenegger and De Vito was sheer movie genius. It conveys great humour throughout and through this bizarre partnership audiences will be able to appreciate the comical ideologies put forth but the director of `Kindergarten Cop' and `Junior'.

A very relaxed comedy with chucklesome jokes worth watching for the whole family

Essential classic5
This, with out a doubt, is a friggin classic film that everyone needs to own. Arnie's acting is dodgy (but name an Arnie movie were it isnt!), Danny De Vito is well funny. Arnie plays the much stronger, more intellligent character, while Danny plays a character who steals cars and gets money for them!

I saw this movie like 20 times when I was younger & I recentley bought the DVD, for only a couple of quid you can't do wrong at all

A great one for the family.4
Twins is a very enjoyable film with a bit of everything for everyone. It has action, comedy, romance and drama all rolled into one big adventure. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito are on fine form with a pleasant contrast between the smooth talking DeVito and the slightly slow Schwarzenegger. The film has an enjoyable storyline with a few twists and turns along the way making for fine entertainment. Also the idea of the two leading actors being twins adds a little craziness into the mix.

The basic story is of two twins (who were separated at birth) finding each other and learning to get along. The fact that Schwarzenegger is an upstanding genius and DeVito is a low down swindler who's in serious debt (the life threatening kind) just adds to the fun. In my opinion it is really DeVito's performance which comes out on top and makes the film the enjoyable 4 star that it is. His charming attitude and low down tricks seem to make you love him and hate at the same time. It truly is a superb performance.

This is a film that will be enjoyed by all ages and will please everyone (almost) but it still lacks that something special which makes a 5 star film and so I wouldn't say it was and essential part of anybodies DVD collection. That said, if it sounds like a film you would enjoy I would definitely recommend watching it.
