Customer Reviews
A revelation for the money!
I, like so many others, have tried various wet and dry shavers over the years and purchased this after my Panasonic wet/dry electric shaver (costing £100.00 about 2 years ago) died. I wasn't expecting great things considering the cost, but couldn't face the prospect of returning to the usual bloodbath of traditional wet shaving however, after a week of use (using the standard foil head supplied), I have been very impressed and would go as far as to say it is better than the Panasonic. It shaves as close (if not closer) and is quicker (you don't seem to have to go over the same spot as often). I haven't used the Titanium head yet (which is for more sensitive skin) but, if it's an improvement on the standard head, a 5 star rating could be justified. My only real critisism is the full charge time of 16 hours (giving approximately 30 minutes of shaving)which means you have to have a fairly strict charging regime but, for me, It's many virtues far outweigh this minor gripe.
Excellent
Disagree with "Disappointed". This product gives an excellent smooth burn free shave. The best features of wet and electric shaving combined,
Cheap & attractive but not a viable alternative to wet shaving
I have a hair problem. In fact I have two hair problems .One: The hair on my head has migrated south quicker than a swallow in a cold snap but in truth that's un-related to the matter at hand More pertinently 2: My hair is so wiry and strong that my barber (when I had the luxury of needing one) used to have to cut my hair with bolt croppers. Consequently I have a problem with electric razors in that they are just not rugged enough to cope with the strength of any stubble and if they were they would probably cut my face to ribbons.
So an electric/ battery razor that you could use wet in conjunction with gel/foam/ soap seemed to be the answer for when I fancied a change from normal wet shaving. After a bit of research I opted for the Scherna for reasons of cost as much as anything. It's a nice looking thing and most importantly it does work wet. I even use mine in the bath ...in fact i only use it in the bath for one simple reason. It takes so long to actually work effectively on my beard that I might as well have a nice long relaxing soak while I'm doing it. Given repeated applications of soap/gel it does the job okay but is nowhere near as effective for me as a proper wet shave. Indeed so long does it take that after finishing one part of my face to satisfactory levels I discover that the remaining bits have re-grown to their original length .
I jest of course but for me, while adequate as a change from wet shaving now and then, the Scherna is not a viable everyday alternative to wet shaving. I have used both types of heads and failed to notice the difference between them. I would only recommend unequivocally if you have a softer type beard. Those of us with iron filings protruding from our faces should stick to wet shaving for the main part. On the positive side I like the little charging unit and the shower hanger is very handy as a means of storage.
