Better than GHD and new t3 straighteners!!!
After using a GHD and a T3 tourmaline, both of the leading brands of straighteners - which both developed faults within 6 months of purchase, I can honestly say the BABYLISS 230 is just as good, if not better. At less than half the price and with a 5 YEAR GUARANTEE!!!! It combines ceramic and tourmaline and is at least 20 degrees hotter than any straightener I know of and alot more kinder to your hair. RECOMMENDED!!!!!!

I have been living my life in a hole. Until I bought the Babyliss Pro 230 (Argos in Sept 06: £39.99 down from £59.99) I had been using the Babyliss Pro 200, selling for about £20. They. Were. Not. Good. (Please don't think I'm some kind of Babyliss freak or anything, it just happened that way!)

I had been quite disappointed with the performance of Babyliss 200 - I had had to keep going over and over the same bit of hair about 5 or 6 times to get it vaguely straight and smooth. It would take me about 20 minutes to go section by section. (I'm actually not one of those people who like their hair poker straight - don't you think it looks a bit wierd? But I like to shape my fringe and smooth it down, because my hair is a bit puffy if I just blow dry it. I do straighten it more when I go to partys etc though.) But I wanted some more to go to uni with - I figured, if you're going to get wrecked and make a fool of yourself you might aswell have nice hair in all the embarrassing photos!

I then tried my friend's GHDs (Mk 3) - wow, they're amazing, but soooo expensive!!! So there I was in a dilemma. Do I fork out £85+ on GHDs which I'll only use to flatten my hair a bit, or do I look around for an alternative?

So I looked on the internet, found the Pro 230 in Argos, and found a review of them which said they were really good. I was dubious - was this person exaggerating?, was it a mistake to go with Babyliss twice incase the second ones weren't very good either?, was it worth paying £40 incase they didn't work?, etc etc etc.

But eventually I decided to go for it and see.

Wow! I got them home and within five minutes I had finished, and had poker straight hair! I had actually straightened it MORE than I had meant to - I was so used to the arduous task of straightening with the Pro 200s! It was also great at doing the back - you know, you can't see it, you can't reach it and you have no idea whether it's done enough. These do it so quickly and glide so well that its no effort at all. I was also worried that the ceramic coating would not be as good as solids, but it's absolutely fine.

Honestly, you will love these and here are a few reasons why:

- You only have to repeat a section three times, max.
- They glide through your hair without getting stuck at all - the plates are smooooth, and the 'clamping' force is not too high so that the hair gets stuck
- They heat up REALLY quickly - 20 seconds ish (Pro 200s took about 5 minutes!)
- Temperature dial (haven't bothered using this yet but if you're worried about damaging your hair it'll be great)
- Long cable - vvv useful
- Heatproof mat/travel wrap (with velcro strap)
- 5 year garuntee - if you like that kind of thing
- 4 little sectioning clips - completely useless but a nice gesture anyway!

I've tried to think of some disadvantages to even it up a bit, but I can't! Ummm...they...aren't pink...?

I'm not sure that they'll work on Afro-Caribbean or MAJORLY curly hair, but my hair is definately on the thick and frizzy side of wavy and it has worked wonders.

One general tip; use a straightening spray. They work really well on getting that shine and smoothness quickly. I use trevor sorbie (I also use trevor sorbie blow dry spray as i blow dry every day, and thats great at making a bit flatter and smoother even if you don't straighten.) which is really good, and it's watery so will not make your hair sticky or heavier if you're worried about that - I tend to be. Again, I'm not into the whole shiny, flat, stuck to your head thing - I like it to move in the breeze! They're not to expensive either - about £5 each (Boots) and they last for about a month.

I managed to get the Pro 230 for £40 reduced from £60, but I would definitely pay £60 for them if you can't find them for less - they're worth it. I promise, promise, promise, these are as good as GHD's. Don't bother trying to get GHD's on Ebay either - they'll probably break within about 3 weeks (if they're not already broken when they get to you!). If you want a good quality straightener but are not so fussed that you're willing to pay £100 then buy these.

Wow these are an amazingly good and cheap pair of hair straighteners!
They straighten quickly and smoothly with no snagging! FAB!
- Don't spend a fortune on GHD's, these do the job just as well for under half the price!!!
I have no complaints at all, just smiles all round! ;)
