Earth Defence Force 2017 isn't a complex cocktail. It's a Molotov cocktail. 9/10

its actually quite good
Think space invaders - wave after wave of alien craft
Think Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter or Lost Planet - 3rd person shooter
combine the 2 then take away two thirds of their budget and you have this game..
Theres little to no tactics involved, just keep your finger on the trigger and run into the bugs with all guns blazing.
This game has obviously been made on a cheap budget but at least it doesnt pretend to be something its not and for that you have to give the game respect... this is the B-movie of video games but it works quite well.. the graphics are below average but even so from time to time they do look quite good, the animation is almost laughable and the frame rates are unstable but this game is fun, if you want a few hours of mindless gameplay where you just shoot shoot and shoot then you may enjoy this, it is very repetitive and altho the packaging boasts 50 missions those missions are very short.. theres no plot except aliens have invaded in the form of massive ant like creatures and other different types and they need to be destroyed and on the bright side this budget game doesnt carry a blockbuster price tag.. you get what you pay for and with this you get a no thrills game thats entertaining and as i said earlier, this game doesnt pretend to be anything other than what it is, something some big budget games could learn from... well done!
This is a Fun Fun Fun Must buy
What can I say... 53 levels of point and shoot, point and shoot. Giant Insects, Killer Robots Ufo's and a Mother Ship. Graphics are decent and for each bug you kill you can get weapon powerups and health point powerups.
Just to reiterate all you do is run and gun ... its great fun and when you fire of 15+ rockets from the Cascade Launcher and watch buildings crumle and instects get blown away... aghhh its the 1980's again.
This is gameplay without pretension... it promises nothing more than mindless execution and destruction.... its great !!!!!
This game arrived on Saturday and I thought I will give it 10 minutes not expecting much and 6 hours later I found it was time to stop.
If you want Gears of War, graphics and tatics or GRAW style combat this is not the game for you.
Equip a kick aass MLRA Rocket Launcher or Volcano 3 Way Rocket Launcher and the crasiest shotguns in exsitence and destroy giant ants, spiders, robots by there thousands. City Buildings crumble... dont navigate the landscape destroy it and move to where you want to go through the rubble.
Caves, Maountains, citys... decent graphically... ride tanks, e-bikes or battle suits and the odd helicopor.
You will not put this game down... each mission brings more and better weapons and each difficulty level ups the power.
This is pure run and gun fun and playing through the same campaigns on successive difficulties is not the chore it was on Gears of War... its hard yes but sheer destructive fun.
CO-OP is good but its not online which is a shame... although beers and snacks and who killed who makes for some good nights
I am playing on a HDTV 37" or my HD Projector... I would recommend a minimum of a 32" CRT (Widescreen) or a 360 through a PC Monitor...
All the horror of Japanese kaiju movies in your hand!
One of my favourite games for the 'GameCube' was 'Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters - Meleé'. This, however, plays as the polar opposite: instead of going the giant monster to take out other giant monsters - as well as the ineffectual military with their maser tanks - you play as the EDF of the title, battling against swarms of giant ants, spiders and other insectoids.
Like most games in this genre, the plot is entirely secondary and of little/no importance. Aliens invade, dropping the bugs on the planet, you take out said-bugs.
The fun in the game lies within it playing as an affectionate homage to the bygone era of giant monster movies. I'm hardly the biggest fan you will ever find of third-person-shooters, but this is one of the best I've ever played (since, like 'The Nomad Soul', it transcends its genre and becomes something more).
A thrilling game, packed with fun, but absolutely not one for 'Gears of War' or 'FEAR' fans, since they will complain about the lack of depth.
