Hayabusa Style5
I'm fresh from beating the game and am currently replaying it on the unlocked mentor difficulty. The biggest changes in this version of the game are the three new playable characters who each get their own chapters in story, bringing the total number of chapters to 17. Momiji, the sole remaining shrine maiden of the Hayabusa clan and Ryu's apprentice from NG on the DS, attempts to rescue a young ninja in sky city Tokyo; Rachel, making a return from the original NG Sigma, scrubs up some fiends in New York that Ryu left behind, including Marbus the devil-like creature who is also making a return from NGS1; and lastly Ayane, who first appeared in Dead or Alive 2, takes to the aqua capital to retrieve a powerful jewel stolen from her clan by none other than the witch Obaba, another character coming back from NG DS.

Some things have been removed from the original version of NG2 on Xbox 360, but they are all of the annoying things that you would expect and want to be removed. Gone are the exploding mine-like jellyfish and underwater gatling gun. A section inloving a giant tunnel worm also didn't make the cut in this remastering. Actually there are many instances of enemies changing or getting moved around - a couple of the weaker bosses have just been replaced by entirely new ones. A couple of giant statue bosses have been added in, one of those statues being the Statue of Liberty, brought to life by Greater Fiend Alexei's power.

Projectile weapons have undergone a massive change in NGS2. The bow can no longer be charged up but seems to be very powerful regardless, has unlimited ammo and automatically locks on to targets, even tracking them while they move around. If you remember the first form of the Archfiend boss from NG2, the one that entirely relied on the bow, this is now made entirely easy. The game in general is probably the easiest Ninja Gaiden to date, but unlocking the harder difficulties still scales it up to a monumental challenge if you like to be tested. In addition to the bow, you've also got new guns: a cannon for Ryu and a machine gun for Rachel; Momiji sticks to her bow and Ayane prefers exploding kunai which stick to enemies.

Graphically the game looks very similar to its Xbox 360 predecessor, unless perhaps you have both running side by side to compare. I'm sure it's made of mostly reused art assets. The geometry of the levels remains the same but some textures have been swapped for higher quality ones I guess. There is a noticable and deliberate reduction in gore in this version of the game, although human enemies still come to pieces, the gushing blood has been replaced by purple essence spewing from stumps of detached limbs. Maybe the effect is a little overdone and distracting, it's an artistic change but one that has no bearing on the gameplay so get used to it.

Obviously the new co-operative mode bears mentioning. For the first time in the series you can team up with a friend or stranger over the internet to take on waves of enemies in various scenarios that unlock as your progress through the main solo game. Even when only partnering with the computer AI, it still makes a cool change from the solo game to have two characters cutting through enemies. Either you charge together with double the cutting power or tactically split up to divide the attention of persuers. When one player drops dead, the other can hammer the circle button somewhere near the body to perform a revival, although less health is recovered each time it is used. When using ninpo magic attacks in unison you get a cool animation with both players working their magic back to back.

Ninja Gaiden is still the best action series in the world. Here you've got a game that learns from the few flaws of earlier versions and smooths them over while at the same time pushing things forward with the addition of multiplayer. One note about the multiplayer: with a very slow internet connection like mine, the whole game seems to move a slightly slower pace but remains more or less constant rather than having freezes and spikes, so is still playable.

Great Game and still challenging...5
It's still the same Ninja Gaiden, but as in Ninja Gaiden Black etc, you now have additonal characters to control. I consider myself a veteran as I finished Gaiden black on high difficulty, the difficulty is tamed down slightly on this release, but you have other Boss battles etc to make up for it. However, at the higher levels it is still very challenging.

The characters that you can play is Rachel, Ayane and Momji and also there is Team based play i.e. co-op. When using Ayane you have to change tactics a little, yes it's still some button mashing. But once you learn the moves you can spice things up and run through the game using different techniques. Your key friend is as always blocking and evading, so once you master these you can then juggle it with your techniques to clear levels without utilising your magic powers.

Overall, it looks gorgeous at 1080p(what more could you ask for) the graphics look brilliant and the gameplay is smooth as butter. There are hidden areas and it's just a matter of exploring.

It's a big up on the xbox360 version and looks better, sadly, the camera is still the same issue, but it is minor issue.

Overall, if you have never played this game, then it's a must buy and even if you have played it I still feel it warrants an purchase just for the co-op and the new missions and boss battles.

Fun Ninja Style Game4
Just downloaded the demo from PSN, really liked this game based on the demo. U get to play RYU and AYANE. As with all games, where possible, download the game and check this out yourself to see if u enjoy it.

Don't be like the previous reviewer and basing his review on the previous game (p.s. ridiculous is spelt this way, it's not red lol). Also not sure why the previous reviewer compared 2 different types of game, this is more fast pace action and the other is well, a shooting fps type of game (fall out). I am not a hater of fps, but it's different.

It is however, as previously mentioned, a button mashing frenzy. U get see really funky combo's and u can kill ure opponents in 1 hit (providing u have already weakened them). It is hugely fast paced and will require skill to complete certain levels.

I am not going to go on about this, just down the demo and try it.
