Manufacturer's Description

SONY BRAVIA

The experience like no other,
just got even better.

BRAVIA is fast becoming synonymous with a quality of colour and a clarity of detail that no comparable LCD TV can match - a picture so good it enhances the viewing experience, no matter what you like to watch. With the incredibly successful launch of BRAVIA, the new Sony FTV and 3LCD range is ready to take the market by storm with its new model launches. The new entry model U-Series features high resolution image processors, integrated digital tuner and is HD ready with HDMI input.

HD Ready. So you can experience High Definition on our BRAVIA range.
BRAVIA U-Series large screen televisions are High Definition (HD) ready. The HD signal will contain nearly five times the information of a conventional signal and bring even more lifelike imagery to your favourite programmes and movies.

HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface)
This is a high-bandwidth video connection that carries digitized RGB picture information and can support copy-protection methods. The HDMI specification allows for the presentation device and display device to agree on an optimal picture size and resolution to ensure the highest quality picture automatically. The multi-pin HDMI interface transfers uncompressed digital video with copy protection and multichannel audio. Using an adapter, HDMI is backward-compatible with most current DVI connections.

And with HDMI™ your BRAVIA LCD TV can be linked to other future HD sources, such as Blu-Ray players, next generation games consoles and HD camcorders.

You get what you pay for5
I needed a TV for my daughters bedroom makeover. I very nearly bought a cheaper 32", strange make, with fair reviews from Ebuyer.

    But I didn't.

I virtually always go for a premium brand, and am a great believer in the phrase Price is forgotten long after quality is remembered.

In the end I found this £100 off, and I was able to use my company discount. Bottom line I Paid £380. So a good price.

I was not expecting the digital free view, so we were delighted to get this as a bonus. Loads of extra channels, and some really good ones, Film4/ Sky news/ music channels plus a raft of others.

Picture quality - from my aerial was crystal clear, its HD ready, but I haven't used this mode yet.

Wall mounting - easy to do. It didn't come with a kit, I bought one online from www.av4home.co.uk (£33 including next day delivery).

I had to cut off the moulded plug, and replace with another one, so I could hide the wires away. It comes with a lead, which you cannot detach from the TV, and it is about 1.5m long.

Looks great on the wall, and picture quality is fabulous.

    Nice one.

    Good Value4
This is the first LCD tv I've ever bought, I'd been putting it off each year believing that they still had some way to go before being as good as the best CRTs (old Sony Triniton 100Hz tvs for example).

I have to say I was nicely surprised once I had set it up, as long as you've got a healthy reception the digital broadcast images are very good. I find the colours a bit intense on some channels, though I suspect this is due to the broadcast signal rather than the TV.

Plenty of inputs though for connecting a PC you are limited to analogue VGA, that said with a good graphics card the picture is still very good (way better than what'd you'd get on a CRT tv and more than adequate for web browsing, watching movies etc).

Sound is also better than expected, the audio line out is brilliant for connecting to a hifi-amp, though is fixed in level so you'll need a hifi remote to adjust the volume from the sofa.

The rec-timer funtion is one of my fav features, it can be programmed to send any digital broadcast down the smartlink Scart port to your older VCR/DVD recorder while the TV is off (effectively giving you a Sky+ style recorder). Of course you still have to set the timer on your video :-) This also removes the need to pass the broadcast signal through the VCR before connecting to the TV which can often cause interference.

All in all, good value, perhaps not quite as good as the best CRTs but for £425 you really can't complain.

simply superb and worth every penny!5
great TV, 2 scarts and looks gorgeous in my living room cabinet!

only gripe would be the factory settings for the display but can quickly be corrected by fiddling with the display settings accessed easily by sony's intuitive menu system.

Sony Bravia LCD TV for this price - grab one now!
