Customer Reviews

A great typing program5
Ten Thumbs makes learning to type easy and painless. It is simple to install and there is a friendly Viking who guides you step by step through the learning process. Practice lessons are never dull as Ten Thumbs has a language generator that builds new sentences to type - which can produce some amusing combinations. The one drawback I've found is the lack of support for the numerical keypad, but aside from that this is a very good program.

¨There is no better way!¨2
There is no better way? Now, that is a misleading statement. Ten Thumbs is certainly a fun way to learn touch typing. Unfortunately, it is not as International as Runtime Revolution website implies. I bought TenThumbs at version 3 believing their claim that support for a Danish keyboard was in the works. Yes, Ten Thumbs now supports six different language keyboards BUT the lessons are in the language of the keyboard. For me, this made Ten Thumbs unusable, because, I type in English on a Danish Keyboard. Presumably, these days there are other people in a similar situation. When I contacted Runtime Revolution about the problem I received a reply from a person named Heather confirming I was entitled to a refund. Several months later I am still waiting for the refund. A case of `Let the buyer beware'. The bottom line for me on this is, sure, download the trial, try it , you and your kids will enjoy the games, if you like it, buy it. But if you are an International user, consider doing an Amazon or Goggle search to check out other typing tutors such as KAZ, which utilizes Right Brain Left Brain learning techniques, recommended by The Open University and is dyslexic friendly. Or, Mavis Beacon which does support multinational keyboards and has the games to keep the children interested.

My daughters school uses this program to teach its lower school students to type. It was recommended to me by their computer teacher to enhance my daughter's learning at home.
