Pillboxes
A famous book that started the interest in WW2 military archaeology in the UK. Although now dated (from 1985) it is hard to beat for a variety of reasons. In my opinion the comparable modern equivalent would be the books written by Dr Mike Osborn.
The subject was well researched at the time by the author. Many black and white photos are spread throughout the book as well as clear pillbox design plans and period illustrations. A useful gazeteer at the rear of the book gives hundreds of locations by way of map references of surviving ww2 defensive locations around the British Isles.I recieved my copy when studying history in 1986 and the book has lived with me ever since.Long since unavalible and out of print you may just be lucky to find a copy along with its dustcover intact but prices vary considerably.
