Synopsis
The Ultimate Avant-Garde How-To Beauty Manual for Fashion-Conscious Women; From the world-famous cosmetics designer, makeup artist, photographer and best-selling author of X-Ray, comes this revolutionary makeover manual designed to show women how to take advantage of their true beauty. Featuring 65 "before" and "after" photos of today's top models including a broad mix of ethnicities and facial structures, this fantastic guide to makeup will show reader how to use makeup like a pro, from natural and elegant to fun and outrageous to timeless-yet-modern looks. Unforgettable models such as Naomi Campbell, Devon Aoki, Trish Goff, Eva Hergova, Sophie Dahl and many more were shot sans makeup -imperfections and all - for the "before" pictures. The "after" pictures, shot in the same lighting to ensure truth and to emphasise the effects of the makeup, have a clear acetate overlay directing placement of the makeup used, offering readers a foolproof, easy-to-copy template for following Nars's exact methods.

At last! A book that deals with colour5
For several seasons the beauty counters have been loaded down with colourful cosmetics, from rainbow hues to subtle pastels, but the beauty books were mostly stuck in 90's neutral. Nars introduces colours from across the spectrum and shows how to apply them for looks that range from natural to theatrical.

I am a big fan of the late Kevyn Aucoin (and bought all his excellent books) but, despite the glamour and drama of the looks he created, his palette seldom varied from black/brown/beige/burgundy/grey. What I really wanted was a book that would show me lots of colour combinations, and that is exactly what "Makeup Your Mind" does.

I hate the sort of beauty book that takes 50 pages to explain the different types of make up and then shows three or four boring looks. No danger of that here. The book consists mostly of life-sized photographs with clear overlays showing exactly where to apply the products.

You don't have to follow slavishly the looks or the recommended colours, but they certainly introduce new ideas and encouraged me to experiment more. This book is inspirational.

WOW!5
This book is truly amazing...i mean what can i say. It has sections on everything, like neutral, colours and lips (and some others) and it tells you exactly where to apply it through a perspex sheet onto the models face. It has a before (no makeup)and after (makeup) picture of the model and then you lay the perspex sheet on top of the after picture and it tells you where everything goes with the aid of dotted lines. It also tells you what the colour name of the eyeshodows and foundations, but its all NARS brand... obviously. It also has how to apply it later on. very VERY good!

A bible for make-up professionals5
I was very impressed with the new book from Francois Nars. He has created a simple, easy to view book of beautiful make-up ideas.

Each page has a before-and-after shot of the model, then a film over-lay detailing how to apply the make-up.

Francois has a very refreshing philosophy about make-up and it is one I agree with. His style of application is within the reach of every woman, not just celebrity models.

I have certainly used some of the ideas in this book for my own work, especially for photographic work and parties!

Can't wait for the next book to come out.
