Well grounded knowledge
As the name of the book suggests it is about illegally available drugs. However it is not sleazy, nor is it to 'academic'. Andrew Tyler essentially tells it like it is and goes across the board with regard to the drugs available on the 'black market' His standpoint throughout the whole book is one where he is removed from making any moral judgements whatsoever. He tells facts ranging from prices at the time of printing, although this has now changed, through to amounts to use in order to feel effects, the dangers, and their history. All in all it is a book which would as easily sit on the shelf of an informed drugs counsellor as it would on the shelf of the user. It is not a bible on how to use drugs, but rather a difinitive guide on what is about and what it does. In an age where drug information is usually gleaned from stories of bravado, and mates, this book tells you as it is. If you buy one book on drugs - then buy this one.
street drugs
this is the book that my tutor reccommended to buy at the beginning of my drug awareness A level course. i have learned a lot from it and would urge anybody who has an interest in this field to buy it. although it is quite old it is still extremely useful. at this price you cant go far wrong.
Frank, well written, educating, A MUST!!!!
From the start of this book I found the written style relaxed and very readable. Andrew Tyler's background from working the 'front line' on the battle against the many drugs (and their devastating effects on the 'user' and their family),that are on the UK's streets really shows. If you ever wanted to know about any mood altering chemical, what its made of, how it makes people feel, and the short, medium, and long term effects, then look no further.
Please please dont take that to mean that the book promotes or glorifies any durg or its use....for me the book gave an adult, readable, free of bais account of 'how it really is'....A MUST FOR Teenagers, Parents, Teachers, Students.!!
