From the Author
Although commissioned in 2004 by Wiley's as a "Dummy's Guide" this book has been a long-term dream of my co-author Kate Burton. We have written it as a personal development primer, suitable for anyone, no matter how great or limited their current confidence levels. And I hope that our readers will be so amazed and thrilled by the power they find within themselves that they will continue their personal exploration beyond the material we have presented.
Business readers will find that many of the concepts we have presented in the book are the classic building blocks of leadership development, and we have supplemented these with illustrations and stories from our own experience of working with clients in a variety of coaching situations.
I hope that many people will find access to the greater versions of themselves through the simple exercises and explanations they will find in "Building Confidence for Dummies", and I hope they will feel able to recommend it to their friends and family as the ideal personal development guide for ordinary, regular people.

Confidence is one of the most important skills to possess
Without confidence we will be unable to maximise personal and professional performance and this book makes a very significant contribtion to this area of personal development. Unfortunately we all suffer from a lack of confidence at some time or other in our lives and usually due to circumstances that are completely outside our control! Building Confidence for Dummies provides a set of tools and techniques to get you back on track. I often pick it up and just notice what attracts me at any particular time and I then work on a specific area. The book is set out in a way that the reader can either browse or focus on a particular aspect which they feel may need attention at any moment in time. This book is a must for anyone who wants to make a difference in the world and achieve their full potential.

Confidence revisited
Somehow I managed to pluck the confidence to leave a successful 12 year career to chase a dream and go back to school with people half my age. When I got there I found out that a 22 year lay off from study made things a tad more challenging than I had envisioned. My confidence soon reached rock bottom and I was left picking up the pieces? Then I picked up "Building Self-Confidence for Dummies" in a bookstore and within 5 minutes of reading I purchased it. It got me right back on track with simple easy to follow step by step advice. Shortly afterwards I got straight A's for the first time in my life.
Building Self COnfidence for Dummies
This is a great book.I bought it so that I can use the information when working with my Service Users. It has quite a few exercises to complete which is really helpful.
