Life as it was is lived again
Having watched some of these programmes on TV, I bought this Collection because my 5-year old granddaughter was entranced by them. She never tires of the 'old days' and how things were done. The programmes themselves show in great detail first, in "Green Valley", how life was lived on a farm in Tudor times. We learn about arable farming, how to rear the animals, how to build small outbuildings and how to prepare and eat the food. There are constantly experts on the period on hand to explain how and why various methods were used. In 'Victorian Farm" the farm is on an estate where the owners have kept and maintained much Victorian farm machinery and three of the characters from Tudor times reappear as experts and practitioners on this Victorian Farm. Again we watch the sowing of crops, rearing of animals - and in the case of pigs and turkeys - their slaughter to fill the pantry. The collection has 12 hours of fascinating historical teaching on the lives of farmers from "the olden days". Worth every penny!
