Techniques?
I was very disappointed with this book. The title "The Complete Guide to Coloured Pencil Techniques" is misleading as the book basically only covers one technique - repeated over and over with variations in colours and subject matter.
The Complete Guide to Coloured Pencil Techniques
I am new to the art of coloured pencil techniques, and I found the contents of this book well set out, with comprehensive details of the materials and techniques in Part One. Part Two - Projects, has a good variation of subject matter, from animals and flowers to still life. These exercises were laid out with a few step-by-step easy to follow demonstrations.
There were also many tips, question and answer guides and references to problems that could be incurred. All in all a well thought out and executed book, which I would recommend to others.
Amazing pictures from simple techniques
A fantastic book. Yes, the author has one basic technique, which is to layer pencil colours, but what amazing results. She has taken things to a high level of refinement and yet her tips are clear and detailed. You can easily understand and quickly learn to produce good results yourself.
Which is the photo and which is the drawing? It's often hard to tell, except that her drawings usually improve on the detail shown by the photo.
Really inspired me and solved some problems with colouring that no other book has done.
