Synopsis
James Cameron's THE TERMINATOR is one of the tightest, tensest sci-fi films ever made and a landmark in the genre. In the year 2029, battles rage between the superintelligent machines that rule the world and the last vestiges of humanity. In late-20th-century Los Angeles, Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton) suddenly finds herself stalked by an unstoppable killing machine--a Terminator (Arnold Schwarzenegger) sent from the future to kill her and her unconceived son, John Connor, the future leader of the human resistance. Sarah can rely only on Reese (Michael Biehn), a soldier sent from the future to protect her from the seemingly indestructible Terminator and save humanity. This low-budget masterpiece was the breakthrough film for director Cameron, who weds special effects, thrills, and understated romance to create one of the finest action films of the 1980s, which spawned many imitations but few equals. Science fiction author Harlan Ellison sued over the film's similarities to his own works, especially the OUTER LIMITS episode Demon with a Glass Hand, and won acknowledgement in the film's credits. Schwarzenegger will forever be known as the relentless Terminator, a heartless killing machine who returns (in a kinder, gentler form) in 1991's TERMINATOR 2: JUDGMENT DAY. In this sequel, a deadly shape-shifting assassin (Robert Patrick) is sent back in time to succeed where his cyborg predecessor failed--to eliminate Sarah Connor's son (Edward Furlong) before he gets a chance to make history, leading the humans in a war against the machines. The original cyborg (Arnold Schwarzenegger) also returns, but this time as the boy's protector.

This has got to be one of the best boxsets out there to buy. If you love your action films this is a must have.
In 2029, giant super-computers dominate the planet, hell-bent on exterminating the human race. And to destroy man's future by changing the past, they send an indestructable cyborg - a terminator - back in time to kill Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton). The women whose unborn son will become mankinds only hope. Sarah has to protect herself from this unstopable menace to save the life of her unborn child. She is not alone though, the resistance has sent a warrior from the future to protect her and her unborn son from termination. The original terminator film has a great effects for the time when the film was made, alot of explosions and car chases to keep you entertained.
Terminator 2 Judgement day has to be one of the best sequels of all time. The film is set 10 years after Sarah Connors ordeal started, and her son John, the future leader of the resistance is now a young boy. However, the nightmare begins again when a new, more deadly terminator is sent back in time to kill John when he is a child. Sarah and John dont face the terminator alone, the resistance has sent back another warrior from the future, its orders to protect John at any cost. This film also has great special effects to keep you entertained. If you have a home cinema you can take advantage of the great sound in 5.1.
These films are highly recommended.
The Governor of California's FINEST hour (and a half)
The Terminator (1984) - Rising rapidly in esteem and cult status everywhere and rightly so - you don't get the status endowed by a BFI Modern Classic Film book lightly you know - still the only truly great film the current Governor of California OR director James Cameron is ever likely to make during our lifetime. Classic sci-fi with a head, tremendous pulsating plot mechanism, TECH NOIR nightclubs (oh James, your debt to the greatest American crime genre was both inspired and seriously hip at the time) and an outstanding, pounding music score that still sends the hairs on the back of your neck up in salute in anticipation. All-round solid gold 80s cinema at it's stunning finest.
T1 is great, T2 is excellent, T3 is fine
