Tour of Duty season 3 on DVD5
After some poor lurve-interest episodes in season 2 (just HOW MANY times can Zeke fall in love?), season 3 of Tour Of Duty is back on track with some punchier plotlines and more believable character development. There is an on-going story arc about Percell becoming increasingly unable to cope with the war, and another story arc about a massacre, as well as stand-alone episodes. However, if you are completely new to Tour of Duty beware spoliers in the episode blurbs that come with the DVDs.

The limitations of a TV budget show through here and there in terms of some creative re-use of a few sets and outside locations (Hey look, it's that river bank again!), but plot and acting more than make up for it. It is made for prime time TV, so gore is minimal and swearing is absent - however that doesn't stop it being gritty or dealing with uncomfortable issues. It's action with a heart, rather than all explosions and no plot.

Oh, and Steven Caffrey (Goldman) takes his shirt off several times. What more could a girl ask for?

Shame about the music2
Such a good series such a shame many of the great songs that featured in this show have been edited for copyright reasons - including the "Paint it black" theme.

The original soundtrack helped capture the mood and feeling of many of the themes of the show (the sixties, change, racism, drugs etc) and the resulting offering is left flat without them.

Please ammend this if it ever makes it to a region 2 release.

Moviemars Tour of Duty Series 1 + 32
I ordered the sets on 21-06-09. They were sent on the 30-06-09. I picked them up at the Post Office on the 16-07-09 where I had to pay £12.83. £4.83 VAT and £8 International handling fee to the Post Office. I only had to pay the Vat as the goods were over £18 in value, so if the 2 sets had been sent seperately I wouldn't have had to pay.
