WOW. Bad as bad can be.1
This is about as bad a movie as I've ever seen. I was in Iraq in April of 2004, and this wasn't it. It wasn't even close. The first 10 minutes were promising, but it quickly turned into a dismal mess of what I can only guess was supposed to be a Baghdad version of Black Hawk Down. The dialogue was bad, effects worse, and the anti-war message was mired in a collage of feeble clichés about war that were almost embarrassing to watch. What's worse, Furie used the deaths of actual combat soldiers on an April day in 2004 to try to make his anti-war point. I'm only praying someone in Hollywood can do a better job than this some day, so that our posterity doesn't think that the Iraq war was fought by a bunch whiners who call their NCOs "Sarge". Don't buy it. Stay Away. It's 99 minutes of your life you can never get back.

Poor - avoid it2
There are far better movies and series giving a taste of the war in Iraq through the military eyes. This one is very disappointing. Stay away from it.

Very disappointing.1
This ranks among one of the worst films I have ever seen.

A Day in Iraq is very unrealistic in its portrayal of the war in Iraq and war in general despite making attempts to include common real life scenarios faced by those on the frontline.

The fighting scenes are reminiscent of a cheap made for TV action movie and give a somewhat elevated view of the fighting skills and ideals of the average American soldier (the knife fighting scene is far fetched beyond belief). Most of the scenes throughout the film are comparable to B-rate movies such as Missing in Action which although bad at least star cult B-movie actors such as Chuck Norris.

The chain of events that take place in the movie is also very far fetched, despite the fact that many of the situations portrayed are based on actual real life features of the insurgency in Iraq such as suicide bombers, downed helicopters, prisoner abuse and booby trapped dogs.

To say that this film realistically portrays the situation in Iraq would be a great injustice to those who have to confront the situation on a daily basis. The film captures none of the fear, tragedy or terrible violence in a way that touches the viewer. From begining to end it is laughable and silly in a way that only the cheapest of films can be.

If you like far fetched war movies with bad special effects, attrocious acting, fake moustaches and hillarious accents this is the film for you. If on the other hand you would like to see a realistic portrayal of war avoid it like the plague.

If I could have rated this film a zero I would have done so.
