The Gengis Khan guide to business
Solid in depth approach to the subject. The worked examples bring the subject matter to life.
However on the negative side. Book is extremely expensive...
Also an explanation as to how Mr Warnes calculates the ratios is very patchy and took me several hours to find all of the answers. I am an accountant by profession and I feel a non financial audience would have a difficult time. A real shame more attention was not devoted to this aspect of the book. Very little effort at second positioning seems to have been made by the author particularly to consider those of a non financial background which this book was geared towards.
Revenue is vanity, profit is sanity.
Any entrepreneur, actual or aspiring, cannot afford to miss this book. It's pragmatic approach and open style, supported by strong case-studies sets the tone for what any business person should know. Ironically, those of an overly financial-bent may miss the point. The price, apply your lessons well and you'll make your money back in no-time.
an understandable guide to understanding business finance
Although written by an experienced accountant with large corporate knowledge, this book is couched in laymans terms and is an enjoyable read with much anecdotal evidence about UK companies and their rise/fall/demise.
Illustrated with witty cartoons, it is easy to pick up and put down and to be be used as a true reference book.
A must for any businessmans/bankers bookshelf.
