Manufacturer's Description
You too can whip up something professional in the kitchen with the Antony Worrall Thompson Intelligent Blender by Breville. Not only does it have a powerful 600W motor for high performance and consistent results, it also features a number of intelligent programs to make even difficult tasks simple.
The blender has a pre-set electronic touchpad that has options for: smoothies, milkshakes, batter, purees, ice crush and chopping. All you have to do is add your ingredients and the blender will do the rest. It will even switch off once the program is complete allowing you do other tasks while the blender is running.
If you want more control over your blending, there are also low and high pulse manual buttons you can use. The soft start motor also allows the blade to start slowly, giving you greater control over the final speed (and therefore consistency) of your blending.
The blender has large 1.5 litre capacity which makes it able to tackle most household blending tasks. It’s also safe, with a locking system on the lid, secure rubber feet for stability, and a toughened plastic jar. Keeping clean and tidy is also easy, with a removable stainless steel blade for convenient cleaning and cord storage to help keep your kitchen tidy.
Customer Reviews
Very intelligent blender
This is my first blender, and it couldn't be easier to use and clean.
There are different programmes to do differnent things like puree, batter, ice crush, chop etc. It also has a slow, and fast blend function.
I mainly use the puree function to make sauces. All i need to do is put the ingredients in and press the puree button. The blend speed automatically varies thoughout the program making sure all the ingredients are blended.
The only thing i would recommend is that when you first turn it on, start it on a slow blend, and then push the function button, otherwise all the ingredients shot to the top of the blender. But other than that i have had no problems with it, and i'm very happy with my purchase.
***UPDATE*** 17th October 2008
I have had this blender over two years now. The plastic cup thing that fits into the lid (cant think of name for it), no longer stays in the lid as the plastic fixings broke off, so now i have to hold it in place.
My partner put breadcrumbs into the blender and nearly burnt out the motor, and now certain funtions do not work on it. However it is still working, but i doubt for much longer. I don't regret buying this blender as it is very convienient with the intelligent functions but it is not very robust. So if all you want from your blender is to make the occasional pancake, and puree stuff this is for you, but dont give it difficult tasks, and dont let impatient heavy handed men near it either!
Top Blender
Bought a blender to compliment my juicer. This was on offer, held loads and seemed quite handy.
Haven't been let down. Really easy to clean. Holds tonnes. Preset functions are really useful. Very safe.
Only tricky part is removing the blades if you want to give them a proper clean, however i find if you wash the blender straight after use you don't need to do this more than once every 6 months or so.
Noisy but Nice
I too bought this to complement my juicer and to make the odd smoothie. It is very good at mixing various ingredients including chopping ice but it is so noisy I got worried about the neighbours hearing!
Easy to clean apart from the blades which are very hard to get out. You don't need to do this every time, but if you don't the rubber seal under the blades gets black and nasty. I'd recommend every 3rd time of use.
I was disappointed in that it looks a bit cheap compared to my other kitchen gadgets.
