Based on the world-famous Nonesuch Press edition of 1937, the text is taken from the 1867 Chapman and Hall edition, which became known as the Charles Dickens edition, and was the last edition to be corrected by the author himself. The Nonesuch edition contains illustrations selected by Dickens himself, by artists including Hablot Knight Browne ('Phiz'), George Cruikshank, John Leech, Robert Seymour and George Cattermole. The new Nonesuch Dickens reproduces the original elegance of these beautiful editions. Books are printed on natural cream shade high quality stock, are quarter bound in bonded leather with cloth sides, include a ribbon marker and feature special printed endpapers. Each book is wrapped in a protective, clear acetate jacket. INDIVIDUAL VOLUME ISBNs (each volume priced GBP 25.00): 'Nicholas Nicholby' 9780715634738, 'Great Expectations'/'Hard Times' 9780715635209, 'Christmas Books' 9780715634721, 'Oliver Twist' 9780715634707, 'David Copperfield' 9780715635193, and 'Bleak House' 9780715634714.

Beautifully Presented Masterpieces
This lavishly presented set of Dickens contains the novels David Copperfield, Nicholas Nickleby, Bleak House, Oliver Twist, Hard Times and Great Expectations (in one volume) and the Christmas Books. The paper is fine quality, and covers are solid and encased in hard-wearing plastic, and each volume includes the original illustrations selected by Dickens himself to accompany his words. The novels will be familiar to all keen readers, as Dickens must be the basis of any reading of the English novel, but here it is the presentation that is the remarkable aspect. In a word, this set is beautiful - a delight to look at and a joy to hold. The publishers must be congratulated on this achievement. The price might seem high, bearing in mind that the same works are available for just a few pounds in any bookshop, but we are paying for the lavish production and sheer beauty of the set. This will be a delight for many years to come.
Wonderful books at a great price
These books are very well made and represent terrific value at just over £10 per volume (when purchasing the set). Their design makes them a joy to read. I highly recommend these to any Dickens fan. If you haven't bought any/many Dickens works before, this could be just the time to start. I eagerly await the following 3 sets of volumes.
"I found Uriah reading a great fat book, with such demonstrative attention, that his lank forefinger followed up every line as he read, and made clammy tracks along the page (or so I fully believed) like a snail." David Copperfield
Well crafted, beautiful books
I have a number of tatty paper-back copies of the various books by Dickens, a cheap 2nd hand set, only one missing, and some old hardbacks that I received as christmas presents as a lad. I have been searching for a set of the complete works of Dickens and was pleased to see these. The six books in this set are of very good quality and it is a pleasure to turn the page. They are good value, for the price, with good bindings that mean you don't stretch the spine to open and read the pages; these books were made to last and I am glad to see that a second set in the collection are due to be published soon. To say that these build into a collection makes it sound a bit like a magazine part work, but when the whole collection is published I believe that they will be books to treasure and deservedly so. The works speak for themselves and it is good to have and read Dickens in any published form: that these are such good and well made books makes them that little bit more special. definitely something to value.
