Customer Reviews
The worst cover design ever
Quite informative, but it should have a subtitle in the shape: and how NOT to design a book cover and a book layout if you're a small publisher.
The design of this book is frankly beyond all ridicule, it looks like a DIYer made it (probably the author himself). This, on its own, should look alarming for any author with self-publishing dreams.
Goes Beyond "Aiming at Amazon" - Great Value for Money
For any self publisher, or indeed small publisher of other people's work, who wants to go beyond Aaron Shepard's excellent "Aiming At Amazon" and into the world of offline commercial publishing, this book is essential reading. Dealing as it does with the basic business principles of marketing and finance as well as the details of the publishing world, it is a very useful guide for those new to the business.
My only quibble is that it is essentially written for the American audience and, in terms of tax and other matters, this makes it of limited use to the UK and European markets. Having said that it still is, in my own experience, one of the best books in its field and great value for money.
