Action-packed adventure
A highly enjoyable sequel to 'Midnight's Daughter' - with the same core cast of characters. The story picks up about a month from the end of the previous book and Dorina is now working more closely with her father, Mircea, it's nice to see this relationship develop from the 1st book. Louis-Cesare is once again Dory's chief antagonist and ally and their sparing is as amusing and sexy as first time around. The book is a roller-coaster ride of action-adventure with Dory and Louis-Cesare lurching from one life-threatening scenario to the next and there's plenty of running, jumping and fighting to keep you turning the pages. If I have one (small) complaint, there may be a little too much action - I would have liked more time spent in explaining Christine (Louis-Cesare's former mistress who he leaves Dory to search for at the end of book one), some more focus on Claire and Dory's friendship and some time for Dory and Louis-Cesare to do something other than save each other's lives and make out. Overall however, if you are a fan of Karen Chance this is a really good sequel and sits nicely alongside, yet separate from, the Cassie Palmer books.
