| I really believe that each individual needs to choose an eating style which will suit them for life. You can do meal replacements or restrictive diets for only so long. Choose a way of eating for the long term, allowing perhaps for the odd indulgence at appropriate times. I’m currently interested in the hunter-gatherer diet because it tries to emulate the ideal food for our genetic inheritance. We’ve only been farmers for a few thousand years and this book is based on the theory that our genes haven’t caught up with modern western eating habits, hence the obesity epidemic and the wide range of chronic ailments which plague society today. If you’re overweight and follow it strictly the chances are that you will lose your fat. The only query I have is that there are no concentrated carbs, yet other evidence suggests our ancestors did dig for these in the form of yams and other roots. | ||
